Sacramento State: Strength and Conditioning Internships for Summer, Fall, and Spring Semesters 2011-2012. Duties: Assist Strength and Conditioning staff with the implementation of strength, speed, agility, flexibility, nutrition and conditioning programs for 3 sports in summer (football, women’s and men’s basketball) and 15 sports in fall and spring; facility maintenance and upkeep; other duties assigned by the strength and conditioning staff. Applicants must be coachable, willing to work early mornings, NSCA-CSCS certified (or preparing to take exam), CPR/First Aid certified, commit to a minimum 25 hours a week, and have experience working with or have played a college sport. These are unpaid internships. New England Patriots: Moses Cabrera accepted an assistant strength & conditioning position.  Cabrera served on the staff at Colorado last season.

Dartmouth: We have learned that St. Anselm assistant Dave Jenkerson accepted the head strength job at Dartmouth.  Before working at St. Anselm, Jenkerson served as an assistant at Georgia Southern.

Charleston Southern: is accepting applications for Strength & Conditioning Internships.  Internships are available at the beginning of every semester; summer, fall, and spring.  This is an un-paid internship working with Division 1 (FCS Football) athletics program.  Candidates will get the opportunity to get hands on experience with In-Season and Off-Season training programs for a variety of sport programs.  Also there is a program curriculum required to be completed during the internship.  Responsibilities will include: Assisting with the implementation of CSU Strength & Conditioning Program, Teaching proper lifting technique to student athletes, Daily maintenance of the weight room, and any other tasks assigned by Head Strength & Coach.  Charleston Southern University is a Christian University in Charleston South Carolina with about 3000 students that compete in the Big South Conference. Dickinson College: seeks a Strength and Conditioning Coordinator/Assistant Football Coach. This is a full-time 12 month exempt position. The successful candidate will coordinate a variety of programs with respective coaches to assess the specific strength/conditioning needs of our varsity teams. In addition to at least three years of experience at the collegiate level, the successful candidate is expected to be a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) as well as having current First Aid/CPR certifications. Candidates should possess the skills and experiences necessary to serve as a defensive position coach, preferably linebackers or defensive line. The assistant coach will be expected to evaluate opponents, contribute to game plans, organize and conduct practices. The assistant coach will also be required to recruit within the philosophy of NCAA Division III and a highly selective liberal arts institution. A bachelor’s degree is required, master’s degree preferred. Wyoming:  Internship.  Positions are open for those interested in gaining experience in the field of athletic performance enhancement.  The program can be tailored to an intern’s education, experience, and future professional goals.  Duties include, but not limited to, assisting staff with set up and breakdown of training sessions, supplement distribution, maintenance of facility and equipment, and testing and training of all sports.   Internship Qualifications: Currently pursuing or completed a Bachelors Degree in an exercise science related field, a strong desire to be involved in an athletic performance field.  Preferred Qualifications: Certified or a strong desire to obtain certification with the NSCA-CSCS, CSCCA, and/or USAW is a plus.  Previous experience in leading training sessions a plus.  Compensation: This is an unpaid position; however, the possibility exists for class credit toward graduation from current institution, athletic apparel when available, the opportunity to learn from five experienced full time strength and conditioning coaches, and the potential to earn future recommendations.  To apply, email Mike Cotterman, Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach, at [email protected] and request an application.

University of Southern Mississippi: Strength and Conditioning department is looking for a full time summer intern to work with football and other sports as assigned. Duties will include daily upkeep and maintenance of the weight room but primary responsibility will be COACHING! Candidates should be proficient in weightlifting, have  or be pursuing a Bachelors or Masters degree in a related field as well as appropriate certifications. This is an unpaid internship but the successful candidate can receive course credit (if pursuing a degree) and will gain valuable hands on experience in a Division 1 setting. South Alabama: The University of South Alabama Department of Strength & Conditioning is currently accepting applications for full-time intern positions for the upcoming semester.  Successful candidates can expect to work full time for the duration of the 10-week internship.  Application for the internship at the University of South Alabama should include a cover letter, resume, and have a bachelor’s degree or college senior at an accredited institution.  Applications for the summer semester will be due by May 1st.  The intern must also be willing to work early mornings and late nights during the week and weekends.  This is a non-paid position but free apparel will be provided to the student during participation.  A liability form must be signed before participation stating the university will not be held responsible for any injuries that may occur during the internship.  If there are any further questions pertaining to the internship feel free to contact, the information is listed below. Arizona State: The goal of our program is to provide an encompassing view of collegiate strength and conditioning, including programming, exercise technique, facility upkeep and exposure to a diverse array of 21 sports in a high paced environment. As an intern in the ASU Sports Performance program you will have the opportunity to gain real world in the trenches coaching experience; you will also learn under the bar while training in the program. Aside from the daily duties required of the position there will be assigned readings and projects to further the development of your knowledge base. This internship is designed for you to develop the needed experience and skills to make you a stronger candidate in taking the next step in your coaching career – this typically being a graduate assistant coaching position.
