Saginaw Valley State University (DII - MI): The Strength and Conditioning Program is accepting applicants for volunteer strength and conditioning Internships. We are looking for individuals with a strong work ethic, punctual, enthusiastic and a desire for the strength and conditioning field. Duties and responsibilities will include but are not limited to: assisting strength and conditioning staff in all facets of implementation of training programs, aid in the instruction of safe and proper weight training techniques, assisting with daily administrative duties, participate in educational projects and assignments, assist in the regular maintenance of the facility. The ideal intern will be able to schedule and maintain a minimum of 20 hours per week with the strength & conditioning staff. This is an unpaid position. The intern will gain valuable collegiate level work experience and exposure to various training modalities. Qualifications: CPR and First Aid Required.  Bachelors / Master’s Degree or working toward the completion of. Certified or working towards the CSCS, SCCC or USAW certifications. This position requires background knowledge in exercise science or a related field, as well as the ability to teach exercises safely and enforce weight room rules and regulations. Mercer University: Mercer University, a Division I member of the Atlantic Sun Conference, is currently accepting applications for the position of two (2) Volunteer Assistant Strength Coaches. The positions are responsible for Assisting the Head Strength Coach in all departmental functions. Duties include writing and implementing team work outs for assigned male and female collegiate teams in accordance with NCAA, Atlantic Sun conference and Mercer University rules and regulations. Qualifications required are experience with teaching and demonstrating the Olympic lifts, Power lifts and other exercises to collegiate teams; 3+ months experience in writing and implementing sports performance team work outs; an accredited fitness certification (preferably CSCS, USAW, or SCCC). Personal qualities desired are: ability to follow directions well, good team work skills, strong work ethic, very professional, loyal, trust worthy, dependable, good people skills and judgment, with exceptional communication and organizational skills. Experience with Microsoft Excel and Word required. Applicants should have knowledge of NCAA rules and bylaws, and NCAA banned substances and adheres to these practices. This is an entry level position, so the person in this position needs to work within the parameters of the position’s assigned duties and authority; and to be willing and able to follow directions, job duties, policies and procedures set forth and stated by the Head Strength Coach. Applicants should have a strong desire to pursue a career as a full time, collegiate strength & conditioning coach. University of Denver: Denver has hired Chuck Lobe as head strength and conditioning coach. Lobe spent the past three seasons with the Tampa Bay Lightning and was the head strength coach at Minnesota State prior to that.

Baylor University: Baylor University Department of Athletic Performance is accepting applications for a paid internship beginning immediately. Intern responsibilities include: assisting with the supervision of training programs, assisting with daily administrative and maintenance items, completion of various educational assignments during the internship. Intern qualifications include: strong work ethic, punctuality, enthusiasm, desire to further one’s career in the strength and conditioning field. Preferred qualifications include: senior status or completion of a bachelor’s degree in exercise science or related field, CSCS/SCCC or USAW certification, CPR certification. Interns will receive experience working in a Big XII training environment, have the potential to earn recommendations for future career opportunities and the possibility of moving into a full-time position on staff. Central Connecticut State: Central Connecticut State University seeks applicants for the position of Strength and Conditioning Intern for the Spring ’12 semester. This internship will provide an intensive, hands-on approach to the principles and methods of strength & conditioning covered in a modern sports performance program. Responsibilities: Successful candidates will assist in organizing and implementing movement assessments, exercise technique progressions, dynamic warm-ups, speed & agility training, strength training, flexibility, and performance testing for all student athletes. Interns will also be responsible collecting and interpreting testing data, the daily maintenance of equipment and facilities, and the development of strength & conditioning manuals and instructional videos. Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree required or working toward the completion of, First Aid and CPR certified. Certified or working toward the CSCS or other certification and Division I coaching experience. This position requires background knowledge in Kinesiology or a related field and as well as the ability to teach exercise safety as well as enforce weight room rules and regulations. North Carolina A&T State University: Now accepting applications for a volunteer strength and conditioning Intern position during the Spring 2012 semester. The position begins in January and ends in May. This is an unpaid position.  Daily responsibilities will include but not limited to assisting the strength and conditioning staff with implementation and supervision of strength training programs for all 14 Varsity Sports, set up, and breakdown of training equipment and assisting in the maintenance and upkeep of training facility. Applicant should be knowledgeable of exercise technique including Olympic lifts. Characteristics desired in prospective interns include; great work ethic, highly motivated, attention to detail, punctuality, accountability, and the desire to grow and learn in the field of strength and conditioning.
