Vanderbilt: Longtime defensive line coach Cedric Calhoun has joined Vanderbilt's strength staff. 

Western Michigan: The Department of Strength and Conditioning (Olympic sports) at Western Michigan University is seeking highly motivated candidates to fill the internship positions for the Summer of 2014. Daily responsibilities will include the following: 1. Assisting with supervision and implementation of strength training programs for various sports 2.Tending to daily maintenance of the training facilities 3.Learning the basics of Annual planning/programming. 4. Any other duties specified by the Director of the program. This is a non-paid position. Qualifications: Currently pursuing bachelors/masters in exercise science or related field, certified in CPR/First Aid, and a strong desire to become a Collegiate level Strength and Conditioning Coach. Mercer: Sources tell us that Northwestern State grad assistant Carl Miller will return to Mercer as the assistant director of strength and conditioning.

Florida International: The Florida International University Strength and Conditioning Department is accepting applications for a Graduate Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach position. The successful candidate will also be assigned sport teams to be determined by the Director of Strength and Conditioning. A Bachelor’s degree in exercise science or related field is required. Applicants must be accepted into a Graduate Program at Florida International University. Certifications in one or all of the following: CSCS, SCCC, USAW is preferred, but not required. Compensation will be a stipend of $4,500 per semester, including tuition waiver (up to 9 credits per semester, 6 credits in summer). Florida International: Florida International University Strength & Conditioning Department is accepting applications for the position of Strength and Conditioning Volunteer Intern for Football for the summer 2014 semester. The FIU staff is looking for highly motivated, hungry, aspiring strength coaches that want to work at the collegiate level. The program is beneficial for undergraduate students and the post bachelor professional looking for experience; as well as develops characteristics necessary to become a successful strength and conditioning coach. The successful candidates will be required to schedule and maintain a minimum of 40 hours per week with the Strength & Conditioning Department. Compensation: Division 1 experience with earned recommendation for future career opportunities. No monetary compensation will be provided. Central Connecticut State: CCSU is seeking applicants for a strength and conditioning graduate assistant. Description: Assist Head Strength and Conditioning Coach with supervision of 17 Division 1 teams. Applicant will be responsible for design, implementation and supervision of 2-4 teams as assigned by the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach. Qualifications: Must have experience teaching Olympic lifts and other strength exercises. Must possess a Bachelors degree in Exercise Science or fitness related field. Applicant must be SCCC and/or CSCS or currently in the process of becoming certified. The successful applicant must meet the admission requirements for CCSU’s Graduate School and be prepared to begin working no later than June 1st, 2014. $9,000 stipend, tuition waiver for 6 hours of graduate study (fall and spring) as well as 3 hours during the summer. Robert Morris (FCS - PA): The Robert Morris University Strength and Conditioning Staff is seeking highly motivated, hardworking candidates for a strength and conditioning internship for the Summer 2014 Semester. Duties will include assisting the strength and conditioning staff with all aspects of the athletic performance program as well as daily maintenance of weight room and facilities. This is an unpaid position. Elon: Joe Baranello has accepted the assistant strength and conditioning position. Baranello was a former grad assistant at Central Oklahoma and Fordham.

Louisville: Joe Miday (head strength coach) and Scott Wilks (assistant strength coach) have been announced by Bobby Petrino as the two guys who will lead the strength program. Both follow Petrino from Western Kentucky.

UAB: Sources tell us Green Bay Packers strength and conditioning assistant Zac Woodfin will be Bill Clark's head strength coach at UAB. Woodfin played for Clark at Prattville High School and then earned two-time First Team All-Conference USA honors as a linebacker at UAB.

Montana: Strength and conditioning coach Rob Oviatt has left the University of Montana for personal reasons. Mike Gerber will be the new strength & conditioning coach for the football program at Montana. Mike recently served as strength & conditioning coach with the UNLV football program over the past four seasons.

Massachusetts: The University of Massachusetts Football Strength and Conditioning Department is looking for motivated individuals who are interested in Spring volunteer internship positions. A background in Exercise Science, Sport Science, Kinesiology or related field is preferred but not required. Applicants should also be in pursuit of obtaining a CSCS, USAW, or SCCC certification as well as being CPR certified. Individuals who apply should be highly motivated, have strong work ethic, be punctual, and have a strong desire to become a future strength and conditioning coach. Daily duties will consist of aiding the strength and conditioning staff with assessments of student athletes, sitting in on meetings when designing programs, implementation of programs, performing proper lifting techniques, motivating athletes, and general maintenance/cleaning of the strength and conditioning facility. Interns will receive experience working at a Division I program, better understand program design, and have the potential to earn recommendations for future career opportunities. Wisconsin-Whitewater: Whitewater is looking for interns in the strength and conditioning department for for Spring Semester 2014 (Feb. 1-May 9). This is an UNPAID internship but great opportunity to gain experience. Duties: Assist S & C coordinator with all aspects of training for all varsity sports. Provide leadership and instruction in the athletic development of student athletes to include skill analysis, teach proper technique and adapt workouts to match each sports specific need. Provide encouragement, motivate, and give feedback to student athletes to ensure maximum development of athletic potential. Assist with outside activities as assigned by S & C Coach. Job Requirements: Strong desire to pursue a career in collegiate strength and conditioning. Excellent work ethic. Ability to adapt to schedule changes. CPR/First Aid certified. Desired Skills: Knowledge and experience in all areas of strength training including Olympic style lifting as well as speed, agility, plyometric, flexibility and conditioning methods. Working towards or completion of an undergrad/grad degree in Exercise Science or related field. Currently certified or working towards certification from nationally known organization.
