Davidson College: We hear Canisius College head strength coach Joe Rowan accepted the head strength job at Davidson College.

Texas A&M: Head strength coach Dave Kennedy has received a $90,000 raise to $250,000.

Tennessee: (Assistant strength coach) QUALIFICATIONS: Certification with the one of the following required: National Strength and Conditioning Association (CSCS), or the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches’ Association (SCCC).  Experience designing and implementing strength and conditioning programs for athletes at the collegiate level or as professional personal trainer required. Bachelor’s Degree Required. The coach should possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills. RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist with designing and implementing strength and conditioning programs for student-athletes; Teach student-athletes proper exercise technique; Attend team home and away competitions as determined by the Director of Strength & Conditioning; Assist in maintaining the strength and conditioning facility and equipment there in; Work with the sports nutritionist to design and implement healthy nutritional strategies; Work with the strength and conditioning staff in scheduling workout times and maintenance of the facilities; Assist the sport medicine staff with the implementation of rehabilitation programs; Assist the coaching staffs with the recruitment of prospective student-athletes as allowable by NCAA rules; Work with and educate coaching staffs in establishing an effective strength and conditioning programs; Assist the Director of Strength and Conditioning with all other men’s sports. Assist the Director of Strength and Conditioning with other duties as assigned; Foresee potential risk of injury, take measures to remove them, and in the event of an injury be capable of implementing an emergency medical procedure; Comply with all rules, regulations, and policies of the NCAA, SEC, and the University of Tennessee. TYPE OF APPOINTMENT: Twelve-month, regular, full-time position. SALARY: Commensurate with experience and qualifications. SMU: (Fall internship) Assist the Southern Methodist University, Sports Performance staff in the day-to-day operations in the weight room. Duties will include but are not limited to; assist the sports performance staff in the implementation of strength and conditioning programs for 16 varsity sports, instruction of safe and proper execution of all facets of athletic development, and assist in the maintenance and upkeep of the facility. Fall interns will work primarily with Football, Men’s and Women’s soccer, swimming, tennis and Women’s olleyball. Qualifications: Pursuing Bachelors in exercise science or a related field.  Experience in a collegiate setting, and a strong desire to become strength and conditioning coach at the collegiate level.  Certification or working towards certifications with the CSCCa, NSCA-CSCS and/or USAW.   Upon successful completion of this internship, one should possess and demonstrates the required abilities to advance in the field of Strength and Conditioning.  Compensation: This is an unpaid position. Responsibilities will include: 1) Assisting with the development and implementation of sport specific strength & conditioning programs. 2) Organizational and office duties. 3) Daily maintenance of equipment. 3) Restocking of supplementation. 4) Other duties as assigned by strength & conditioning staff.  Applicants are expected to assist in daily maintenance and upkeep of student-athlete weight room, and possess strong communication skills and work ethic. Baylor University: Department of Athletic Performance is accepting applications for Fall 2011 Athletic Performance Interns. Intern responsibilities include: Assisting with the supervision of training programs; Assisting with daily administrative and maintenance items; Completion of various educational assignments during the internship. Intern qualifications include: Strong work ethic; Punctuality; Enthusiasm; Desire to further one’s career in the strength and conditioning field; Ability to volunteer a minimum of 20 hours per week. Preferred qualifications include: Senior status or completion of a bachelor’s degree in exercise science or related field; CSCS, SCCC, or USAW certification; CPR certification. This is an unpaid internship. Interns will receive experience working in a Big 12 training environment, have the potential to earn recommendations for future career opportunities, and receive college credit if applicable. Marshall: Missississippi State assistant James Townsend is the new head strength coach at Marshall.

Missouri Southern State University: an NCAA Division II program part of the MIAA conference located in Joplin, Mo, is currently accepting applications for a strength and conditioning internship. This internship will meet the requirements needed to sit for the CSCCa SCCC certification test. Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to, assisting the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach in overall direction and coordination of strength and conditioning programs for 13 varsity sports. Coordinating with coaching staff of assigned teams to design and implement safe and effective programs. Assist in the every day operations of facility. Applicants must have strong knowledge of teaching technique of Olympic style lifting exercises. Bachelor’s degree required in appropriate field. Prefer at least 1 year experience in a collegiate athletic setting. Committed to the profession of strength and conditioning a must. Experience with computers preferred. Previous experience in strength and conditioning preferred. $8,000 for a 10 month contract. Start date is August 1, 2011.
