Southern University: The Southern University Strength & Conditioning Department is now accepting applications for the position of Strength and Conditioning VOLUNTEER INTERN. Daily responsibilities will include but are not limited to; assisting with supervision and execution of strength training programs for various sports, teaching student athletes proper technique and equipment use, attending to the daily maintenance of the training facilities and participation in projects and professional development throughout the internship program. Preferred candidates will have: - A bachelor’s degree or be in pursuit of undergraduate degree in a sport science, exercise physiology, health and exercise science, kinesiology or related field of study - CPR/First Aid and AED certification - Knowledge of strength and cardio equipment. - Certification from one or more of the following (NSCA, CSCS; CSCCA, SCCC; USAW) are preferred but not required but willing to obtain. Compensation: Experience in Strength and Conditioning at a collegiate level with earned recommendation for future career opportunities. In addition, college credits can be rewarded, if applicable. Cumberland (NAIA - TN): Cumberland University Strength and Conditioning Department is accepting two (2) volunteer unpaid strength and conditioning intern positions for the Fall 2014 semester. Internship will begin August 7 and continue through December 6, 2014. Qualifications: Completed or working towards Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science or related field; current CPR/AED certification; desire to pursue career as a strength and conditioning coach; strong work ethic; punctual. Preferred: Currently possess or working toward CSCS or SCCC certification; previous internship/coaching experience; ability to work with Microsoft Office programs. Stony Brook (NY): Stony Brook University is accepting applications for Strength and Conditioning Volunteer Interns for the Fall 2014 semester. Opportunities include: completion of volunteer hours for an academic degree program. Assisting in the supervision and training of Stony Brooks 18 Division I intercollegiate athletic programs and access to our strength and conditioning intern educational program. Preferred qualifications include: Matriculating through an exercise science or related academic program, current SCCC and/or CSCS certification, CPR certification and previous experience in a strength and conditioning program or have previous collegiate athletics experience. Minimum qualifications include: pursuing SCCC and/or CSCS certification and the desire to further one’s career in the field of Strength & Conditioning. This is an unpaid position. West Virginia: Joe Heskett has been hired by WVU as the associate athletic director for sports performance.

Maine: The University of Maine athletic department currently has a restricted earnings strength and conditioning assistant position available. The temporary position is includes an $8000 stipend (no benefits/meals/housing included). Program design and implement directly with baseball, women's soccer, along with assisting in football and other sports as needed. The Citadel: The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina, is currently accepting applications for two volunteer Strength & Conditioning (S&C) internship positions. The internship will last for the duration of the fall semester, August 20 – December 12, 2014. These are unpaid positions. Interns will gain practical experience working in a Division I S&C environment with exposure to training, programming, and coaching. Other benefits include possible future references, course credit, and gear when available. Minimum requirements include certifications in CPR, AED, and First Aid, a strong work ethic, a desire to become an industry professional, the ability to adjust to a demanding work schedule, and effective communication skills in a group setting. Candidates must need this internship for college requirement/course credit. The ideal candidate will be pursuing a degree in Exercise Science or related field. Other preferred qualifications include certification from a recognized governing body, (NSCA, ACSM, USAW, CSCCa, etc.), previous intern or coaching experience, personal involvement in a competitive sport, and proficiency with Microsoft Office programs.
