Baylor: Baylor University Department of Athletic Performance is accepting applications for the Spring 2013 Athletic Performance Internship Program. This is an unpaid position. Intern responsibilities include: Assisting with the supervision of training programs; Assisting with daily administrative and maintenance items; Completion of various educational assignments during the internship.  Intern qualifications include: Punctuality; Enthusiasm; Strong work ethic; Ability to volunteer a minimum of 40 hours per week.  Preferred qualifications include: Senior status or completion of a Bachelor’s degree in exercise science or related field; CSCS, SCCC, or USAW certification; CPR certification. Stetson: Brad Lokey has been announced as the new director of strength and conditioning at Stetson. Lokey comes to Stetson from Cumberland University (TN) where he served as the director of strength and conditioning. Prior to that, he served on the Georgia Tech strength and conditioning staff.

Southern Illinois: We hear that Southern Illinois has filled their assistant strength position and are no longer accepting applications.

Southern Miss: The University of Southern Mississippi invites applicants for a full-time position as an assistant strength and conditioning coach in the Intercollegiate Athletics department. Position Description: Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, overseeing of team training, facility scheduling and maintenance, record keeping, and other duties as assigned. Duties and Responsibilities: Candidate will be responsible for the following duties: Develop workouts for student-athletes, implement and supervise strength and conditioning programs for student-athletes, through proper communication and instruction for the head strength coach, test and evaluate the progress of student-athletes as per their workout programs and protocols, keep and maintain accurate records for student-athletes, assist with rehabilitation of injured athletes in the Athletics department weight rooms during designated workout times, communicate goals, achievements and progress of student-athletes to respective sport coaches and athletic trainers, supervise and instruct graduate assistants, student workers and interns, prepare and distribute nutritional supplements to student-athletes, assist individual sport coaches with on-campus recruitment of potential student-athletes. Midwestern State (TX): Midwestern State University Strength and Conditioning program (Division II) located in Wichita Falls, Texas is seeking highly motivated, hardworking candidates for strength and conditioning interns for the SPRING 2013 semester. Montana: The University of Montana Department of Athletics is accepting applications for the Assistant Director of Athletic Performance position. Responsibilities: Design and implement proper, efficient, scientifically sound training programs for each team. Conduct workouts in a safe, efficient, organized manner to comply with NCAA regulations. Oversee and mentor student interns and graduate assistants. Work with athletic training staff and physicians as needed to implement individual rehabilitative and reconditioning programs. Continue education to ensure growth within the program for improved training practices, and up-to-date injury reduction programs. Moravian College (D-III - PA): Moravian College is seeking one volunteer intern for the spring 2013 semester. This individual will gain valuable experience at the college level as well as credit approved by their institution. The internship will involve assisting in the supervision of training sessions, different training methods, nutrition, learning/executing exercise technique, daily maintenance of equipment, and educational research. Qualifications: Must be working toward certification, previous coaching or playing experience preferred, and exhibit a strong desire to be a strength and conditioning coach. UAB: UAB has an opening for a strength and conditioning internship. DURATION: January 13, 2013 through May 10, 2013. COMPENSATION: UAB Gear, Volunteer. RESPONSIBILITIES: Under administrative direction of the Assistant Athletic Director for Strength and Conditioning intern will assist strength & conditioning staff in the implementation of various strength & conditioning programs at the collegiate level. Full exposure and experience in the day-to-day operation of Division I S&C program. Expected to perform a wide variety of tasks that include: Various and assorted administrative duties, Data management, Weight room and equipment up-keep and maintenance, Workout implementation and supervision, Exercise Demonstration & Teaching Technique, Pre-workout preparation, Post-workout analysis, Assistance with warm-ups, cool-downs, performance testing and tracking, Supplement provision, Research,, Projects. Adhere to the rules and regulations of the NCAA, C-USA, and the policies and procedures of the University of Alabama at Birmingham. QUALIFICATIONS: Must be completing or have completed a degree in Exercise Science or related field. Ideally will have or be pursuing a CSCS, CSCCa or USAW certification. CPR Certification is required. Experience as a collegiate athlete is also preferred but not required. This is a full-time internship (minimum 40 hours/week) intended to develop serious strength and conditioning coaches for their future career in collegiate athletics. Pepperdine: Pepperdine University’s Strength and Conditioning Department is currently seeking qualified intern candidates for the Spring 2013 semester. Applicants should be interested in advancing their career in collegiate strength and conditioning. Duties will include assisting the strength and conditioning staff in all aspects of the s&c program, including design, implementation, daily set-up/breakdown and facility maintenance. Duration of the internship will be performance based, and will begin on January 5th. Individuals chosen for the position are subject to university background checks and standard hiring procedures. This is a non-paid volunteer position, requiring a minimum of 15 hours/week, though more hours will be strongly encouraged. Interns will receive experience working at a Division I program, have the potential to earn recommendations for future career opportunities and receive college credit if applicable.
