Baylor University: Department of Athletic Performance is accepting applications for 2 Graduate Assistant (GA) positions. GA responsibilities include: Design and implement training protocols for designated teams. Ability to work, write, speak and communicate effectively with staff, administrators and sport coaches. Ability to teach and execute proper technique of lifts and drills. Coordinate, evaluate, compile and communicate performance targets. Delegation of daily administrative and maintenance items to interns. Completion of various educational assignments during the assistantship. Graduate Assistant requirements include: Bachelor's degree; Exercise Science or related field preferred. Acceptance into Baylor University Graduate School. Experience in an NCAA four year college or university weight room working with a variety of teams. Possession of the following personality traits; strong work ethic, punctuality, enthusiasm. Graduate Assistant preferred qualifications include: CSCS, SCCC, or USAW certification and background as a competitive collegiate athlete. Belhaven College (MS): We are hearing that Southern Miss grad assistant Garrett Rayborn has accepted the head strength position at Belhaven College.
University of Virginia: Internship Program - The University of Virginia Strength & Conditioning Department is accepting applications for the position of Football Performance Intern for the Fall and Spring semesters. The successful candidate will be required to schedule and maintain a minimum of 20 hours per week with the strength & conditioning department. The program is designed for undergraduate students and the post bachelor professional looking for experience working with elite athletes in a scientifically based and innovative training program. The daily responsibilities will include: 1. Assisting with supervision and execution of strength training programs. 2. Teaching student-athletes proper techniques and equipment use. 3. Attending to the daily maintenance of the training facilities. 4. Participation in weekly projects and professional development. No monetary compensation will be provided. Qualifications: Must be self motivated and have a strong work-ethic. Ideal candidates will have a certification from one of the following. Columbia: Former University of Houston assistant, Cat Wade, is joining the Columbia University staff as an assistant strength coach.
LSU: Our sources tell us that former Tennessee Vol and NFL linebacker, Dominique Stevenson, has joined the LSU staff as an assistant strength coach. Stevenson played on the 1998 national championship team and then with the Buffalo Bills and Washington Redskins.
