Northwestern: We are hearing that University of Georgia assistant strength coach Michael Schweigert has joined the Northwestern strength & conditioning staff.
University of Wisconsin - Whitewater: Strength & Conditioning Internship for 2010-11 Academic year (Sept. - May). This is a paid internship which includes a $5000 stipend. Duties: Assist S & C coordinator with all aspects of training for all varsity sports. Provide leadership and instruction in the athletic development of student athletes to include skill analysis, teach proper technique and adapt workouts to match each sports specific need. Provide encouragement, motivate, and give feedback to student athletes to ensure maximum development of athletic potential. Job Requirments: Strong desire to pursue a career in collegiate strength and conditioning. Excellent work ethic. Ability to adapt to schedule changes. CPR/First Aid certified. Desired Skills: Knowledge and experience in all areas of strength training including Olympic style lifting as well as speed, agility, plyometric, flexibility and conditioning methods. Working towards an undergrad/grad degree in Exercise Science or related field. Currently certified or working towards certification from nationally known organization. Colorado State University: Strength and Conditioning 2010 Fall Internship. Intern will gain insight of profession and experience in strength and conditioning at the Division I level. Dates: Aug 1- Dec 31 (Flexible) Duties: Assist Colorado State University Strength and Conditioning Staff in day to day operations of two varsity weight rooms. Will assist with both in-season and off-season strength and conditioning programs for a variety of sports. Other duties as assigned by Colorado State University Strength and Conditioning Staff. Qualifications: Pursuing a Bachelors or Masters Degree in Exercise Science, or related field. Experience in the collegiate setting and a strong desire to become a strength and conditioning coach at the collegiate level preferable. Currently certified or working towards certification in one or all of the following: C.S.C.S, CSCCa, USAW. Compensation: This is an unpaid internship. Southeast Missouri State University: Strength and Conditioning Department is currently accepting applications for full-time strength and conditioning interns for the 2010 Summer and 2010 Fall Semesters. Successful candidates will assist with the implementation of strength training, conditioning, linear and lateral speed development, flexibility, and recovery workouts for all Redhawk sports. Additional responsibilities include weight room supervision, cleaning and upkeep of equipment, successful completion of the internship curriculum and any other duties assigned by the Strength and Conditioning staff. Applicants must have a strong work ethic and a desire to pursue a career in strength and conditioning at the collegiate level. Ideal candidates should be enrolled in an Exercise Science undergraduate/graduate program and should be CPR/AED certified and be working toward certification from one of the following: CSCCa, NSCA, USAW, NASM, or ACSM. Previous experience in strength and conditioning and knowledge of Olympic lifting is recommended but not mandatory. Successful applicants will receive course credit towards graduation (if applicable) and valuable Division I strength and conditioning experience. No monetary compensation is provided.
