Washington State University: The Strength & Conditioning Department is currently accepting applications for internship opportunities. Summer interns will assist in all facets of training as well as general overall daily tasks under the direction of the strength & conditioning staff. Interns will directly assist sport head strength coaches with testing, implementation of programs, warm-up/flexibility and more. Interns will have the opportunity to work under Master Strength Coach, David Lang, and 4 full-time strength coaches who have a combined total of over 40 years of experience in the collegiate strength & conditioning field. Dates: June 6th – July 29th (can be adjusted if necessary). Qualifications: Applicants must be pursuing a Bachelor or Masters Degree in Exercise Science or a related field. Experience in the collegiate setting and a strong desire to become a strength & conditioning coach at the collegiate level is preferred. Applicants should be currently certified or working towards certification in one or all of the following: CSCCa, C.S.C.S., or USAW. Compensation: This is an unpaid position, internship credit may be obtained for a current degree program enrolled in (if applicable). Missouri State University: Department of Strength & Conditioning  is currently accepting applications for intership opportunities for the Summer/ Fall 2011 semester. The internships are unpaid, but we will make every effort to make sure that the internships meet the necessary curriculum for college credit. Duties will include assisting the Director & Assistant Director of Strength and Conditioning with all aspects of the strength & conditioning program including but not limited to: warm-up, strength, speed, agility, and conditioning for respective teams as well as maintenance and upkeep of two intercollegiate facilities.  Candidates must have a strong desire to be a strength & conditioning coach. Must have completed or are working towards completing a bachelors degree from an accredited institution. Must also be certified or working towards certification in CPR/ CSCS/CSCCA. Eastern Washington University: is accepting internship applications for the 2010-11 school year.  The planned dates of the internship will be June 20th through August 5th, with the option based on evaluation to extend through December 9th.  Interested candidates must be enthusiastic, adaptable, organized, and highly driven, and have interest in pursuing a career as a strength and conditioning coach.  Achievement or pursuit of a Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science or a related field along with certification through the NSCA, CSCCa or USAW is required.  Previous experience with program design and time spent in the collegiate training environment are encouraged but not required.  The deadline to apply for this position is May 13th, 2011.  Please email a cover letter, resume and list of three professional references to Nate Brookreson, Head Strength and Conditioning Coach, at This email address is being protected from spambots. Tennessee State: We hear Alvin Futrell has been promoted to head strength coach.

Louisville: Intern - The University of Louisville Football Strength and Conditioning department is accepting internship applications for the Summer and Fall of 2011. The planned start dates for this internship will be June 2 or August 1 (based upon availability) and will continue through December. This is a full-time unpaid internship, responsibilities include but are not limited to assisting with the supervision and training of all Louisville Cardinal football players, assisting with daily administrative and maintenance duties, and completion of various educational assignments during the internship are also required. Qualifications: All applicants must be highly motivated individuals looking to advance their career in strength and conditioning.  Applicants must demonstrate a strong work ethic, have a desire to learn, and be enthusiastic about improving the performance of our student athletes. Preferred qualifications include: Senior status or completion of a Bachelor’s degree in exercise science or related field; eligible to sit for the CSCS, SCCC, or USAW certification; CPR certification.
