Eastern Illinois: Our sources tell us grad assistant Chris Neville has been promoted to full-time assistant strength coach.

University of North Texas: is looking for qualified candidates to fill Fall Internships for 2011. This position is an unpaid internship with the opportunity to gain knowledge and experience in a Division 1 program as well as earn college credit if necessary. Requirements: Bachelors Degree in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, etc, or completing degree requirements for graduation. Washington State University: We hear Missouri assistant Tyler Looney accepted an assistant strength job at Wazzu.  Also, our sources tell us that South Dakota State grad assistant Christopher Sheckler accepted the intern job.

Akron: Graduate Assistant – The University of Akron Strength and Conditioning for football is accepting applications for Graduate Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach Position. This position will assist in all day-to-day facets of training for football and upkeep of the facility. A Bachelor’s degree in exercise science or a related degree is required. Applicants must be admissible to graduate school in the area of sports science and wellness of sports science and coaching at The University of Akron. Certifications in one or more of the following is preferred, but not required: SCCC, CSCS, USAW. Compensation will be $10,000 for a 12 month contract and tuition waiver. Louisville: Intern - The University of Louisville Football Strength and Conditioning department is accepting internship applications for the Fall of 2011. The planned start dates for this internship will be August 5 (based upon availability) and will continue through December. This is a full-time unpaid internship, responsibilities include but are not limited to assisting with the supervision and training of all Louisville Cardinal football players, assisting with daily administrative and maintenance duties, and completion of various educational assignments during the internship are also required. Qualifications: All applicants must be highly motivated individuals looking to advance their career in strength and conditioning. Applicants must demonstrate a strong work ethic, have a desire to learn, and be enthusiastic about improving the performance of our student athletes. Preferred qualifications include: Senior status or completion of a Bachelor’s degree in exercise science or related field; eligible to sit for the CSCS, SCCC, or USAW certification; CPR certification. Compensation: Interns will receive experience working in a Big East training environment, have the potential to earn recommendations for future career opportunities, and receive college credit if applicable. Texas State: University of Albany strength coach Blake Cundiff accepted the head strength job at Texas State.

FAU: a NCAA Division 1 institution and member of the Sun Belt Conference invites those interested in pursuing a career in Strength and Conditioning to apply for a fall internship with the Strength and Conditioning Department. Potential interns will acquire valuable experience and knowledge while being a positive asset to FAU and its student-athletes.  Upon successful completion of this internship, one should posses and demonstrate the required abilities to advance in the field of Strength and Conditioning.  Duties: Assist Strength and Conditioning staff with the implementation of strength training, conditioning and speed programs designed for 17 varsity teams (including Football), weight room upkeep, equipment maintenance and other duties assigned by the full time staff members. There will be an opportunity to have responsibility over 1 or more sports teams TBD by your comprehension, prior experience, knowledge and skill level. Qualifications: Potential interns must be self motivated and possess a strong interest in becoming a Strength and Conditioning Coach.  Candidates should have prior weight room experience via previous coaching experience and/or a background as a competitive athlete. In addition, candidates should be pursuing or just completed a Bachelors or Masters degree in exercise science or a related field a well as working towards a certification with the CSCCa or NSCA. Compensation: Class credit toward graduation requirements, valuable experience and knowledge and earned recommendation to pursue the next step in your career.
