South Florida: The University of South Florida Strength and Conditioning is accepting applications for the Summer Semester of 2013 Athletic Performance Interns. Intern responsibilities include: assisting with the supervision and training of USF’s Division I intercollegiate athletic programs; assisting with daily administrative and maintenance duties; completion of various educational assignments during the internship are required. Intern qualifications must include: Strong work ethic; Desire to learn; Enthusiasm; Desire to become a qualified Strength and Conditioning Coach. Preferred qualifications include: Senior status or completion of a Bachelors degree in exercise science or related field; eligible to sit for the CSCS, SCCC, or USAW certification; CPR certification. Compensation: There is no monetary compensation provided.  However, the position offers the opportunity of advancement in the field of strength and conditioning as well as the fulfillment of credit hours toward a program degree.  Expected Start Date is May 13th and will run through July 26th. UCF: Sources tell us Cleveland State head strength coach Tredell Dorsey has accepted the assistant director of strength and conditioning position at UCF. 

Temple: Shelton Gaffney has been hired as Temple's assistant strength and coordinating coach according to Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer. Gaffney was the assistant strength coach at Tennessee from 2008-10.

Mercer University (FCS): Mercer University is currently accepting applications for the position of Graduate Assistant Strength Coach. Duties include writing and implementing team work outs for assigned male and female collegiate teams in accordance with NCAA, Atlantic Sun Conference and Mercer University rules and regulations. Qualifications required are experience with teaching and demonstrating the Olympic lifts, Power lifts and other movements to collegiate teams; 6+ months experience in writing and implementing sports performance team work outs; an accredited certification (preferably CSCS, USAW, or SCCC); meeting Mercer University graduate school entrance requirements. Bachelor of Science Degree in Exercise Science or related field of study. This position requires a TWO YEAR program commitment. Compensation package includes room and board with a full tuition, books waiver and a small stipend. Part-time, outside employment allowed with prior approval of Department Heads. Applicants must have a strong desire to pursue a career as a full time, collegiate strength & conditioning coach. Marshall: We hear that Citadel strength and conditioning grad assistant Billy Brown has accepted an assistant strength position at Marshall.

South Florida: Hans Straub has retained assistant strength coaches Greg Honeychuck and Walter Bell.

UMass: Former South Florida strength coach Mike Golden has joined Charley Molnar's staff.

Arkansas State: Lee Marks has joined Jeff Pittman's strength staff at Arkansas State. Marks served as South Dakota State's running backs coach last season.

Kansas City Chiefs: The Chiefs have retained assistant strength coach Brent Salazar. 

Chicago Bears: The Bears have hired former Kansas City Chiefs strength coach Mike Clark to serve as their director of physical development. Clark is replacing Rusty Jones, who recently decided to retire.

West Virginia: Sources tell us that Irele Oderinde has been brought on board as an assistant strength and conditioning coach.

Nova Southeastern (D-II - FL): Nova Southeastern University, a member of the NCAA Division II and the Sunshine State Conference located in Fort Lauderdale, FL, is currently accepting applications for the position of Graduate Assistant for Strength & Conditioning. The successful candidate will have full responsibility of two to three teams and will assist with the implementation of strength training, conditioning, speed/agility, flexibility and recovery workouts for all 17 athletic teams in our state of the art 5,500sq ft Strength & Conditioning Complex. Qualifications: The GA positions are required to work up to but not limited to 35 hours per week, which include flexible hours, evenings and weekends. GA positions work 12-month, renewable contracts. Graduate Assistants must be enrolled at a full time status (6 credits per semester) and be in good academic standing throughout their employment. Applicants must be admitted into their respective graduate program before they can sign a contract through NSU Student Employment. Candidates must be certified with at least one of the following organizations CSCCa (SCCC), NSCA (CSCS), or USAW. Wisconsin: Evan Simon has officially joined the staff as head strength and conditioning coach. Simon worked under Gary Andersen for the past four seasons at Utah State.

Maryland: Maryland has an assistant strength and conditioning coach for Olympic sports opening. Position description: Assist the Director of Strength and Conditioning for Olympic Sports in preparing the student-athletes at the University of Maryland for the rigors and demands of intercollegiate competition through the utilization of the total athletic enhancement training. The primary function of this position will be to manage the total athletic performance preparation of student-athletes to include, but not limited to: development of training programs; application of appropriate motivational techniques; instruction of student-athletes in the proper execution of weight training exercises, plyometrics, agility drills, flexibility training, speed improvement technique, and conditioning modalities; and communicating with appropriate coaching personnel regarding the needs and demands of the student-athletes. Minimum qualifications: Bachelor's degree and a minimum of two years of strength coaching required. National Strength & Conditioning Association (NSCA) or Collegiate Strength & Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCa) certification required. Preferred qualifications: A minimum of two years of collegiate strength coaching experience preferred.
