Brown: Brown University Strength and Conditioning department is currently accepting applications for internship positions over the Summer and Fall 2013. Interns will have the opportunity to work with 37 Ivy League varsity teams. Qualifications: Intern must be completing this internship for course credit towards a degree in Exercise Science or related field. Intern must possess or be working toward a certification through the CSCCa, NSCA and/or USAW. Intern must have a strong desire to become a collegiate strength and conditioning professional. Intern will be required to complete a curriculum within the program. Intern will not receive credit if the curriculum is not completed to the standards set forth by Brown’s Strength & Conditioning staff. Compensation: This internship position is unpaid; however, the position offers the opportunity of advancement in the field of strength and conditioning as well as the fulfillment of credit hours toward a degree. Clemson: Clemson University Department of Olympic Sports Strength and Conditioning is seeking highly motivated candidates to fill Summer 2013 (June 1st-July 31st) internship positions. Individuals will gain knowledge and experience in a Division I Collegiate Strength and Conditioning setting. Individuals will also have the opportunity to work with all the Olympic sports that train out of Jervey weight room. It may fulfill course credit if necessary. Campbell (FCS - NC): Campbell University’s Strength and Conditioning Department is currently seeking qualified intern candidates for Summer 2013. Internship will begin May 20 and end August 2. Qualifications: Applicants must be certified or working toward certification with the NSCA (CSCS) or the CSCCa (SCCC). Candidate must have a desire to learn more about the strength and conditioning profession, have knowledge of multi-joint strength movements, Olympic lifts, and basic knowledge of the human anatomy. Compensation: There is no monetary compensation for this position. Pepperdine: Pepperdine University’s Strength and Conditioning Department is currently seeking qualified intern candidates for Summer 2013. Applicants should currently be pursuing or have completed a Bachelor’s degree in a related field. Preferred qualifications include CSCS and USA-W Certifications. Current CPR certification is required. Duration of the internship will be performance based, and will begin on May 1st and terminate on August 1st. Individuals chosen for the position are subject to university background checks and standard hiring procedures. This is a non-paid volunteer position, requiring a minimum of 20 hours/week, though more hours will be strongly encouraged. Interns will receive experience working at a Division I program, have the potential to earn recommendations for future career opportunities and receive college credit if applicable. San Jose State: San Jose State University (SJSU) is currently seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Graduate Assistant in the Athletic Performance Department. Reporting to the Head Athletic Performance Coach, the capable candidate will have the opportunity to assist the Athletic Performance staff with all aspects of a 16-sport Division 1A athletic program and must adhere to all university, conference and NCAA regulations. Must be able to demonstrate and teach a variety of Olympic lifts and diverse movement skills. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to: enforcing the policies, procedures and regulations that oversee all activities in the Koret Athletic Training Center, perform basic equipment, cleaning and overall facility maintenance, as well as other duties assigned by the Head Athletic Performance Coach. Bachelor’s Degree required and admittance into or pending admission into a Master’s Degree program at SJSU; a strong desire to be involved in strength and conditioning at the collegiate level; must be working toward or eligible for certification with the CSCCa (SCCC) or the NSCA (CSCS); proficient in Microsoft Excel; excellent communication skills, both oral and written; excellent organizational skills and attention to detail; and must be diligent and willing to take initiative. A $1,000 stipend per month for 12 months. Stipend may be applied towards SJSU tuition. No tuition waivers are available. Montana State: Montana State is currently accepting applications for graduate assistant strength and conditioning coach. The graduate assistant will assist with the implementation of sport-specific strength training programs for all 14-varsity sports and will be assigned his/her own sports. Responsibilities include but not limited to: assisting the head strength and conditioning coach with the design and implementation of sport-specific strength, speed, and agility programs; weight room supervision; daily upkeep and maintenance of equipment; and other duties as assigned by the head strength and conditioning coach. The graduate assistant position is a one-year contract with the possibility of extending up to three years beginning with the 2013-2014 academic year and includes only a in-state tuition waiver for graduate credit hours with the summer terms excluded. Internship will begin May 13 and end August 2Daily responsibilities include: assisting with the set up and break down of weight room and fields for conditioning workouts; daily clean up and maintenance of the weight room and all of its equipment; assist with supervision and demonstration during the training sessions. Applicants must be highly self motivated, able to follow directions, desire to learn, and have a strong work ethic.
