UAB: UAB is now accepting applicants for a summer strength internship starting May 20th, 2013 through Aug. 2nd, 2013 COMPENSATION: Volunteer, UAB Gear. QUALIFICATIONS: Must be completing or have completed a degree in Exercise Science or related field. Ideally will have or be pursuing a CSCS, CSCCa or USAW certification. (CPR Certification is required.) Experience as a collegiate athlete is also preferred but not required. This is a full-time internship (minimum of 40 hours/week) intended to develop serious strength and conditioning coaches for their future career in collegiate athletics. North Dakota State: The North Dakota State University Strength & Conditioning Department is currently seeking interested students to fulfill a summer internship position. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, assisting the strength and conditioning staff with the implementation of sport specific strength, speed, agility, flexibility and conditioning programs for all sports. Additional responsibilities will include training session set up, daily upkeep, and maintenance of equipment and other duties as assigned by the Strength & Conditioning Coach. Compensation: Potential interns will acquire valuable experience and knowledge while being a positive asset to NDSU and its student-athletes. Upon successful completion of this internship, one should posses and demonstrate the required abilities to advance in the field of Strength and Conditioning. This is an unpaid internship. Tulsa: The University of Tulsa Department of Athletic Performance is accepting applications for the Summer 2013 Athletic Performance Internship Program. This is an unpaid position. Intern responsibilities include: Assisting with the supervision of training programs; Assisting with daily administrative and maintenance items; Completion of various educational assignments during the internship. Intern qualifications include: Punctuality; Enthusiasm; Strong work ethic; Ability to volunteer a minimum of 40 hours per week. Preferred qualifications include: Senior status or completion of a bachelor's degree in exercise science or related field; SCCC, CSCS, or USAW certification; CPR certification. North Carolina A&T State: North Carolina A&T State University is looking for qualified applicants for full/part time internship positions for summer 2013, starting May 20 through August 15. Responsibilities include providing a high level of energy on the floor, coaching proper technique and motivating the athletes through off-season weight lifting and conditioning activities, maintenance and cleanliness of the weight room, as well as anything else the head football strength and conditioning coach needs assistance with. The applicant will receive valuable experience at the division I level as well as knowledge that will serve them in the field. Along with coaching in the weight room and on the field, there will be structured lecture times for further education. Requirements: Must be able to commit to a schedule, have or willing to obtain a valid CPR/First Aid certification, and a desire to be a successful strength and conditioning coach. Preferred: A Strength Conditioning or Weightlifting certification (or working toward obtaining a certification) and collegiate athletic playing experience. Wyoming: Internship positions in the Department of Strength & Conditioning are open at Wyoming. The program can be tailored to an intern’s education, experience, and future professional goals. Duties include, but not limited to, assisting staff with set up and breakdown of training sessions, supplement distribution, maintenance of facility and equipment, and testing and training of all sports. Internship Qualifications: Currently pursuing or completed a Bachelors Degree in an exercise science related field, a strong desire to be involved in an athletic performance field. Preferred Qualifications: Certified or a strong desire to obtain certification with the NSCA-CSCS, CSCCA, and/or USAW is a plus. Previous experience in leading training sessions a plus. Compensation: This is an unpaid position; however, the possibility exists for class credit toward graduation from current institution, athletic apparel when available, the opportunity to learn from five experienced full time strength and conditioning coaches, and the potential to earn future recommendations. Pepperdine: Pepperdine University’s Strength and Conditioning Department is currently seeking qualified graduate assistant candidates for Fall 2013. Bachelor’s Degree required and admittance into or pending admission into a Master’s Degree program at Pepperdine University; a strong desire to be involved in strength and conditioning at the collegiate level; must have or be in the process of sitting for the NSCA (CSCS) certification; proficient in Microsoft Excel; excellent communication skills, both oral and written; excellent organizational skills and attention to detail; and must be diligent and willing to take initiative. The graduate assistant position is a one-year contract with the possibility of extending up to two years beginning with the 2013-2014 academic year and includes full tuition waiver for graduate credit hours with the summer terms excluded. This position is unpaid and does not include a stipend. The successful candidate will assist with the implementation of sport-specific strength training programs for all sports and will be assigned his/her own sports, as capable. South Alabama: The University of South Alabama Department of Strength & Conditioning is currently accepting applications for 5 full-time intern positions for the summer semester. Brown: Brown University Strength and Conditioning department is currently accepting applications for internship positions over the Summer and Fall 2013. Interns will have the opportunity to work with 37 Ivy League varsity teams. Qualifications: Intern must be completing this internship for course credit towards a degree in Exercise Science or related field. Intern must possess or be working toward a certification through the CSCCa, NSCA and/or USAW. Intern must have a strong desire to become a collegiate strength and conditioning professional. Intern will be required to complete a curriculum within the program.
