Illinois: The University of Illinois Football Strength and Conditioning Department is now accepting applications for 2 Volunteer Interns for the summer of 2013. The internship begins May 28th and ends July 26th. This is an unpaid position. However, the position offers the opportunity of advancement in the field of strength and conditioning as well as the fulfillment of credit hours toward a program degree based on circumstance. Daily responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to; assistance in the supervision of the University of Illinois Football team set up and break down for daily strength and conditioning activities, routine maintenance, cleaning, and organization of the training facility. North Carolina Central (FCS): North Carolina Central University’s Strength and Conditioning Department is accepting volunteer (UNPAID) strength and conditioning coaches to work with Football and Olympic sports. Qualifications: Candidates must have a strong desire to become a Strength and Conditioning professional; Must have completed or are working toward completing a bachelors degree at an accredited college/university; Must stay the entire summer and volunteer a minimum of 20 hours per week; Knowledgeable in exercise physiology and biomechanics; Must have a current CPR/AED certification. Preferred qualifications: Bachelors degree completed, previous internship and collegiate athletic experience, and one of the following certifications; CSCS, SCCC, USAW, or FMS. Wake Forest: Wake Forest University’s Sports Performance Department is now accepting applications for the position of volunteer interns over both the summer and fall 2013 semesters. Interns will assist the sports performance coaches in the day-to-day operations of the department and will have the opportunity to work with many of Wake Forest’s Men’s and Women’s sports. In addition, they will complete an educational program that will consist of weekly topic discussions, assignments, and projects. The successful candidates must be working towards earning a Bachelor’s degree and certification through the CSCCa. They must display a strong work ethic, positive attitude, and a desire to become a strength and conditioning professional. The successful candidate will assist with the implementation of sport-specific strength training programs for all sports and will be assigned his/her own sports, as capable.
