Marshall: The Department of Strength and Conditioning (Olympic Sports) at Marshall University is accepting applications to fill the Fall 2012 and Spring 2013 internship positions. This is an un-paid position, but the intern will gain vital experience through performing daily responsibilities which include: assisting in the setup, implementation, and breakdown of team training sessions (11 intercollegiate sports); daily maintenance of the training environment; learning proper technique and others coaching skills critical to the profession. Webber International (FL): Webber International University is looking to fill a Full-Time Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach position. The school is located 45 minutes from Orlando. Responsibilities include designing & implementing year-round strength & conditioning programs for a selected portion of the 32 teams at WIU; assisting in the complete training of all teams; mentoring each of the strength & conditioning intern-assistants involved in the WIU strength program; assisting with managing the fitness center, student workers, and all fundraising activities within the strength & conditioning department. Qualifications include successful completion of a Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s Degree in an Exercise Science or related field; minimum 2 years collegiate or professional strength & conditioning experience; CSCS or SCCC certification; CPR/AED certification; strong interpersonal, communication, leadership, organizational, and managerial skills; ability to gather data, compile information, prepare reports, and work with Microsoft Office programs; ability to work effectively with culturally and economically diverse populations. Cal: Scott Salwasser has been hired as an assistant strength coach and will work with the football program. Salwasser previously served as an assistant strength coach at Louisiana Lafayette.
Merrimack: Jim McGuire has been hired as an assistant strength and conditioning coach. He previously served in a variety of strength and conditioning roles at schools such as Boston College, UConn and South Carolina.
South Dakota: Bobby Thomas has been hired as a grad assistant at the University of South Dakota. Thomas most recently served as an intern at Southern California, and also spent time as a student assistant at Humboldt State.

Merrimack: Merrimack College is seeking applications for the position of Strength and Conditioning Intern in the Department of Athletics. Merrimack is a Catholic Institution with more than 2,000 students, and is a member of NCAA Division I Hockey East and also of the NCAA Division II Northeast-10 conference. Responsibilities for the position will entail assisting in implementation of all aspects of Strength and Conditioning programs for all 22 intercollegiate sports. Responsibilities will include: apply, demonstrate, and instruct exercise, speed and conditioning technique, program design, performance testing, and weight room maintenance. Maryland: The University of Maryland Football Strength and Conditioning Department is now accepting applications for Volunteer Interns during the Fall Semester of 2012. The internship beginsat the end of August/beginning of September and extends through the beginning of December. This is an unpaid position. Daily responsibilities include, but are not limited to; assist the supervision and execution of strength and conditioning for Maryland Football, set up and break down for daily activities, routine maintenance and cleaning of the training facilities, and participation in internship curriculum. Characteristics desired in prospective interns include; outstanding work ethic, strong desire to enhance strength and conditioning knowledge, attention to detail, punctuality, and accountability. Montana: The University of Montana Intercollegiate Athletics is accepting applicants for the position of Strength and Conditioning Coach Professional Intern. The position will work primarily with Olympic sports. Start date is early as possible based on the candidate’s availability. Position will pay $1,000/month (no benefits). Position will run from September 3rd to December 7th 2012. The Professional Intern reports to the Director of Athletic Performance, while working with sport coaches, athletic training staff, and athletes. The successful applicant will be responsible for assisting in implementing all aspects of athletic development for teams and athletes assigned. Candidates will complete a CSCCa practicum, submit a design project and take certification exam at the CSCCa National Conference. This position offers an opportunity for advancement in the field of strength and conditioning, including hands on experience with elite level Football and Olympic Sport teams and involvement with all aspects of Strength Clinic and Camp preparation and implementation. Required Education and Credentials: Bachelors Degree, preferably in related field, current member of the Collegiate Strength & Conditioning Coaches Association and CPR, First Aid and AED certified. Morgan State (FCS - MD): Morgan State University Strength and Conditioning Department is currently accepting applications for Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach. Morgan State University competes at the NCAA Division I level, and is a member of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference. Football competes in the NCAA Football Championship Subdivision. Portland State (FCS): Portland State University is looking for 4 qualified applicants for a full time internship position for this fall, starting no later than October 1st through December 22nd. This is an unpaid internship working with football and possibly men’s and women’s tennis. Responsibilities include coaching proper technique and motivating the athletes through in-season weight lifting and conditioning activities, maintenance and cleanliness of the weight room, research projects on various topics, as well as anything else the head football strength and conditioning coach needs assistance with. The applicant will receive valuable experience at the division one level as well as knowledge that will serve them in the field. Along with coaching in the weight room and on the field, there will also be structured classroom times for further education. Battle Ground Academy (TN): Battle Ground Academy, a coeducation day school in Franklin, TN, is seeking qualified applicants for a volunteer internship. BGA is a member of the TSSAA and participates in Division II. This is the most prestigious classification in Tennessee high school athletics. We have recently opened our new Athletic and Wellness facility which includes a 40 x 40 indoor turf field and 7,000 sq ft weight room with Hammer Strength equipment. We are currently looking for up to 4 interns for the spring semester. Compensation is experience in a highly competitive high school environment, experience and knowledge regarding olympic lifting, speed/agility training, flexibility, and program periodization.
