Hawaii: The University of Hawaii Football Program is in need of a volunteer intern to assist with the summer Strength and Conditioning Program. The position begins on the 23rd of May and will run until the first week of August. The duties include the set up/break down of lifts, maintenance of the training facility and assisting with the implementation of performance training for Division 1 football athletes. Applicants MUST be hardworking, intelligent and willing to learn our system. There is NO monetary compensation for the position. Idaho: The University of Idaho Strength and Conditioning Department is seeking volunteer interns to assist with the summer speed, strength, and conditioning of football, men’s basketball, volleyball, and soccer. These are UNPAID internship positions; however, the possibility exists to further one’s career at the University of Idaho with upcoming Graduate Assistant positions. In addition, the interns selected will gain experience and knowledge in Strength and Conditioning as it pertains to programming and coaching the sports listed. Cal: The University of California - Berkeley is accepting applications for a summer internship position that would work with the Football Strength and Conditioning Department. This is an unpaid position that is responsible for assisting the California Strength & Conditioning Staff implement the off-season program and assist in all departmental functions. Required qualifications include completion or current pursuit of a bachelor’s and/or master’s degree in an exercise science or related course of study and possess a desire to become a strength and conditioning professional. Prairie View A&M: The Prairie View A&M University Strength and Conditioning Department is looking for two to three motivated individuals who are interested in volunteer internship positions. A bachelor's degree in Health and Human Performance, Sport Science, Kinesiology or related field is preferred but not required. Applicants must be in pursuit of obtaining a CSCS, USAW, or SCCC certification as well as being CPR/First Aid/AED certified. Individuals who apply should be highly motivated, have strong work ethic, punctual, and have a strong desire to become a future strength and conditioning coach. Daily duties will consist of, but are not limited to, aiding the strength and conditioning staff with assessments of student athletes, sitting in on meetings when designing programs, implementation of programs, performing proper lifting techniques, motivating athletes, and general maintenance/cleaning of the strength and conditioning facility. University of San Francisco: San Francisco is looking for an intern for the summer. The Volunteer Assistant Strength and Conditioning Intern Coach will report to Assistant Director of Athletic Performance. Responsibilities: Assist with the development and administration of a sound strength and conditioning program, teaching safe lifting and movement techniques and overall supervision of weight room and conditioning sessions. Assist with the implementation and evaluation of Functional Movement Screens for all student-athletes. Collaborate with and assist the Sports Medicine Staff in developing sports specific return to play rehabilitation protocols for injured student-athletes. Assist in evaluation and development of all regeneration programming. Organize and input data for the athletic performance database to ensure accurate reporting of student-athlete progress and planning.
