Massachusetts: The University of Massachusetts Football Strength and Conditioning Department is looking for motivated individuals who are interested in Spring volunteer internship positions. A background in Exercise Science, Sport Science, Kinesiology or related field is preferred but not required. Applicants should also be in pursuit of obtaining a CSCS, USAW, or SCCC certification as well as being CPR certified. Individuals who apply should be highly motivated, have strong work ethic, be punctual, and have a strong desire to become a future strength and conditioning coach. Daily duties will consist of aiding the strength and conditioning staff with assessments of student athletes, sitting in on meetings when designing programs, implementation of programs, performing proper lifting techniques, motivating athletes, and general maintenance/cleaning of the strength and conditioning facility. Interns will receive experience working at a Division I program, better understand program design, and have the potential to earn recommendations for future career opportunities. Wisconsin-Whitewater: Whitewater is looking for interns in the strength and conditioning department for for Spring Semester 2014 (Feb. 1-May 9). This is an UNPAID internship but great opportunity to gain experience. Duties: Assist S & C coordinator with all aspects of training for all varsity sports. Provide leadership and instruction in the athletic development of student athletes to include skill analysis, teach proper technique and adapt workouts to match each sports specific need. Provide encouragement, motivate, and give feedback to student athletes to ensure maximum development of athletic potential. Assist with outside activities as assigned by S & C Coach. Job Requirements: Strong desire to pursue a career in collegiate strength and conditioning. Excellent work ethic. Ability to adapt to schedule changes. CPR/First Aid certified. Desired Skills: Knowledge and experience in all areas of strength training including Olympic style lifting as well as speed, agility, plyometric, flexibility and conditioning methods. Working towards or completion of an undergrad/grad degree in Exercise Science or related field. Currently certified or working towards certification from nationally known organization. Pitt: Sources tell us Ross Kolodziej will take over as the head strength coach at Pitt. Kolodziej recently served as the defensive grad assistant at Wisconsin this past season after playing in the NFL several years.
Eastern Michigan: Ron McKeefery will serve as the program's strength coach, according to sources. McKeefery, the former strength coach at South Florida and Tennessee, was on the strength staff of the Cincinnati Bengals.
Nevada: The University of Nevada Strength and Conditioning Department is accepting applications for Graduate Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach position. This position will assist in the day-to-day operations of the Wolf Pack Strength and Conditioning Department in all facets of training and upkeep of the facility. The successful candidate will also be assigned sport teams to be determined by the Director of Strength and Conditioning. A Bachelor’s degree in exercise science or related field is required. Applicants must be accepted into a Graduate Program at the University of Nevada. Experience in a collegiate athletic setting and a strong desire to become a strength and conditioning coach at the collegiate level is preferred. Certifications in one or all of the following: SCCC, C.S.C.S., USAW is preferred, but not required.
