Video: Cal's new football facility

Cal's new football isn't quite finished, but it's shaping up to be a much needed upgrade.

The new facility houses the new football offices, meeting rooms, a 5,500 square foot locker room, a team theatre, dining facility, and a biochemistry performance lab.

Only Cal would call it a "biochemistry performance lab".

Ferentz takes the polar plunge

Kirk Ferentz took the polar plunge for the wrestling team yesterday, along with head strength coach Chris Doyle and wrestling coach Tom Brands.

The plunge into a local pond helped raise over $25,000 for the wrestling program to aid in travel funds, as well as training and coaching for Olympic and World Championship events.

When asked about the event a few weeks ago, Ferentz responded “How do you say no to those guys? They’ll break my arm or dislocate my shoulder."

Video: Tour Iowa State's new facility

Paul Rhoads and the Cyclones are getting some impressive new facilities this fall.

The impressive 60,000 square foot facility will be next to the indoor practice field and house the coaches offices, locker room, weight room and state of the art meeting rooms.

Associate athletic director Mark Coberley says that when its finished he can guarantee that "no place in the country, not collegiately or in the NFL, that has any more than we will have".

Take a look.

Video: Exciting time to be a 'Cane

Miami released a great video today outlining what it's like to be a part of the University community and the exciting changes surrounding the program.

Al Golden talks about the new buildings going up on campus, and a few players weigh in on what they enjoy doing for fun and lead you on a tour of their "crib" as well.

The video covers all the bases, and you can bet that recruits are taking notice.

Tim Kish on why he's the right fit for Oklahoma

New Oklahoma linebackers coach Tim Kish met with a local radio station yesterday.

Kish, who was officially hired on Monday and hit the road recruiting on Tuesday, said that the transition has been very smooth because of his familiarity with both Mike and Bob Stoops, and the similarities they share in schemes and philosophy.

Kish took some time to reflect on his time as the interim head coach at Arizona, as well as talk about his excitement of getting to work for the Sooners in the interview below.

Rutgers will move quickly

Rutgers AD Tim Pernetti spoke this afternoon about the path forward for Rutgers football now that Greg Schiano is leaving.

Full video is below; but here are some of the relevant things he had to say.

First and foremost, Pernetti believes the program is in great shape, "this is not a rebuild, this is a move forward."

Apparently, Pernetti lives by the Bill Moos style of governance..."Any AD worth whatever the university pays them has a list in their pocket the whole time."

The decision will be made "as soon as possible...best case scenario would be for the recruits on Wednesday to know who their new head coach will be." He added that he believes it's very "doable" to have a coach in place by then based on who he is considering for the job and based on the incoming calls.

He added himself to the football staff temporarily so that he could speak with recruits as necessary.

Sources we have spoken with tell us money won't be an issue in the search. Some names that sources tell us Pernetti had on his list include...Dan Mullen, Jeff Jagodzinski, Steve Addazio, Mario Cristobal and Al Golden. Two other names that we think should merit consideration are Greg Roman and Billy McGovern at BC. Rutgers offensive coordinator Frank Cignetti has interviewed for several head coaching jobs over the past few offseasons and will definitely make his case as well.

We also saw Bruce Feldman tweet that there may be interest in K.C. Keeler and Darren Rizzi.

We'll keep you posted; but don't expect this one to take long.
