Quite a head scratcher of a season

Texas Tech is having an interesting season.

They opened up 4-0. They had two fairly easy openers vs. Texas State and then at New Mexico followed by a close game vs. Nevada and then they struggled a little but still beat Kansas by 11. 4-0 at that point.

They then lost two in a row at home 45-40 against A&M and 41-34 against Kansas State (a game they were winning at half and in all the way). 4-2 at this point.

Saturday October 22 they went to Norman to take on undefeated Oklahoma. Tech brought the wood and opened up a 24-7 lead at halftime and was up 41-24 with 7 minutes to play and they held on to win 41-38. 5-2 and have to feel good about themselves....

Iowa State came into Lubbock the following weekend and just unloaded on Tech 41-7; and Tech went to Austin last weekend and took a beating again 52-20.  Thus, entering today's game they were 5-4.

Today isn't going to help. Before halftime in Stillwater, Oklahoma State is beating Texas Tech 49-0.  And thus, after 10 games, Tech will stand 5-5.

That defeat of Oklahoma looks simply amazing right now.  OU's loss to Tech is their only one on the season and they have beat up on everyone else, including a near 40 point win over Texas, 41 over Kansas State, 16 over Texas A&M, etc...

In the 10 seasons Tubs was the head coach at Auburn his team only allowed 40 or more points 3 times. They have now allowed 40 or more in 5 games this season.

Head scratcher of a season for Tech.

Video: Leach and Holgorsen reminisce

This is great material. Leach was in Morgantown yesterday and sat down for what turned out to be a rather informative and entertaining interview with Holgorsen and a local host.

Harbaugh believes nobody's got it better

ESPN did an article yesterday about Jim Harbaugh and his first year success with the 49ers.

In the article, Jeffri Chadiha talks about a story that Harbaugh had told early in the season that has inspired the 49ers (perhaps accidentally) where the Harbaugh family would be in the car and Jack Harbaugh, a longtime coach himself, would yell "Who's got it better than us?", to which the rest of the Harbaugh family would reply "Nobody!"

Jim has used that as the teams battle cry for his first season in charge, often asking before practices and games who has it better, with the team emphatically replying "Nobody".

Linebacker Patrick Willis noticed Harbaugh's unique approach early on in camp when Harbaugh would come to team meals. "Normally, you'll see guys wanting to get up and leave the cafeteria when the coach comes in. But he comes in and talks to everybody. He'll sit down with the starters. He'll sit down with the guys on the practice squad. I saw him once walk up to a table where all the seats were taken and he just found a way to squeeze right into space between a couple guys. And nobody left."

Harbaugh's approach has the 49ers sitting at 7-1 and atop the NFC West as they head into this week's match up with the Giants at 4:15 Sunday on FOX.
