Willie Taggart and his staff took over in November of 2009 and have wasted no time in getting the youngest member of the FBS bowl eligible.
After starting the season 0-4, Western Kentucky has won 6 of their last 7 games. Their only loss during that stretch was to top ranked LSU.
With three other conference teams already bowl eligible (Arkansas State, Louisiana-Lafayette, and Florida International), Taggart is making his case for the Hilltoppers saying that "We've got a red-hot football team that deserves it".
Western Kentucky will look to make it 7 wins in their last 8 games as they finish their season at home against Troy (3-7, 2-4) on Saturday.
Arkansas State head coach Hugh Freeze accepted a bid to the GoDaddy.com bowl after their win over Middle Tennessee yesterday. This will be A-State's first bowl game since the 2005 season.
In his first year at the helm Freeze has led the RedWolves to an impressive 9-2 record through 11 games and at least a share of the Sun Belt title. Last season Arkansas State finished 4-7. Solid improvement.
After the game yesterday, Freeze caught up with the media and rightfully got pretty excited talking about the big win and accepting the bowl bid, see the video below.
