Fitzgerald: I reminded them it's a $60,000 scholarship

A 2-0 start has Northwestern's Pat Fitzgerald expecting more out his team. Much more.
In their 23-13 win against Vanderbilt last Saturday, Fitzgerald noted that there were some areas where they "didn't bring their big boy pads."
One of those areas was the pass game. Through two games the Wildcats are completing about 62% of their passes, and Coach Fitz has made it known that the receivers should be catching every ball that comes their way to make sure that number rises as the year progresses.
‘‘We’ve got to catch the football. I don’t care where the ball is thrown, that’s what we put them on scholarship for, and I reminded them it’s a $60,000 scholarship. Catch the ball.’’
This weekend the Wildcats welcome a team from ACC country in as they take on Boston College. A win would give the Wildcats victories against teams in three of the major conferences. So far their wins have come against teams from the Big East (Syracuse) and SEC (Vanderbilt).
