Always fun when they mic up the offensive coordinator

Mike Nesbitt, in his first spring as the new offensive coordinator at Houston, got mic'd up for a recent practice and the theme was the tempo.

Nesbitt said that it was a normally structured day, and the goal of the fast tempo is to get to the point where they can" play longer and harder than anybody". You can tell that this isn't a new concept to the players, because everytime they switch a drill they're running with a purpose.

Great D-III video

Mount St. Joseph, a D-III school located in Cincinnati, has been rolling out some great videos all offseason covering everything from interviews with head coach Rod Huber and the rest of the coaching staff, to their offseason efforts in the weight room.

Their most recent addition may be the best one yet. See for yourself.

Leach's goal: Offense installed in 4 practices

Mike Leach and Washington State hit the field for spring practices today, and Leach says it won't take long to install the new offense.

"I think we'll probably have a pretty good semblance of it probably after four practices, the idea is not to make it overcomplicated. The bulk of the time you want to spend developing your skills."

Leach says that he is looking forward to being back out on the field, but isn't nervous about getting back at it. "It's the same as it always is," he said. "The anxiety would be how can we best teach this and be most efficient with our time."

Fedora: "I think their heads are smoking right now"

Larry Fedora and the staff have almost completed their planned offensive and defensive installations for the spring, and Fedora says the new pace has the players heads smoking.

“I think their heads are smoking right now. We’ve had four days of install and we’re throwing everything at them. I think their effort has been really good. Their attitude has been great and their working extremely hard. There’s a lot of frustration and that’s a good thing.

Quarterback Bryn Renner says the pace has been "beyond words", but according to Fedora they're operating at about a 6 on a scale of 1-10.

Fedora said that they have most of their spring installation in at this point, and the rest of the practices will be spent re-teaching things and installing a few things as they go.

We'll get a firsthand look at the tempo at the Tar Heels spring game, set for April 14.
