That's not how we drew it up...

With 11 seconds left on the clock, and down 8 against Louisville, UConn went into their bag of tricks and pulled out the hook and ladder.

Unfortunately, the play didn't work as drawn up.

Take a look at the video below, you've got to see it to believe it.

Freeze locks up a bowl bid

Arkansas State head coach Hugh Freeze accepted a bid to the GoDaddy.com bowl after their win over Middle Tennessee yesterday. This will be A-State's first bowl game since the 2005 season.

In his first year at the helm Freeze has led the RedWolves to an impressive 9-2 record through 11 games and at least a share of the Sun Belt title. Last season Arkansas State finished 4-7. Solid improvement.

After the game yesterday, Freeze caught up with the media and rightfully got pretty excited talking about the big win and accepting the bowl bid, see the video below.

FCS playoff brackets announced

More playoff football is on its way as the FCS playoff bracket was announced earlier today.

Sam Houston State is the only undefeated FCS program in the country, and holds the number one seed. Defending national champ Eastern Washington did not make the field.

The 2012 FCS national championship game will take place in Frisco, Texas and is scheduled for 1:00 EST on Saturday, January 7th on ESPN3.

James Franklin: The culture has changed

Vandy lost a tough one last night to Tennessee and now stands 5-6 on the season. They travel to Wake Forest on Saturday to try to get to six wins.

After the game, Franklin spent a few minutes talking about the players and the game and then he fielded a question about "getting over the hump".  Watch the video.

Kiffin: I wonder if Nick left me a message. He likes me

Last night, after opening up a huge lead, USC held on to win at Oregon when the Ducks' kicker was just wide on his attempt to tie it as time expired.

The loss means Oregon is out of the National Championship hunt. It also all but assures Alabama that they will play in the championship game.

Kiffin spoke with CBS Sports' Dennis Dodd after the game and offered these gems...

"I wonder if Nick left me a phone message, he likes me." Dodd notes that Saban and Kiffin did bond during that one year that Kiffin was at Tennessee.

Kiffin also said that after the crowd took notice (the word "deafening" was used by some in attendance to describe the noise) of the fact that Dwayne Wade, LeBron, Carmelo and Chris Paul were in attendance, he walked over to Chip (pre-game) and said, "What you couldn't get Michael [Jordan] here?"

Nice. Huge win by SC.

The entire story by Dodd is here. A good read.

Tough weekend for the state of Florida

Remember when teams from the Sunshine state won nearly every weekend...

Well, this wasn't one of those. Florida started the day off by pulling one out over Furman. Miami also got a win; but 6-3 over South Florida. Florida State missed a field goal at the end and lost at home to Virginia for the first time ever. Central Florida lost to East Carolina. FAU lost to Troy.

FIU did go out of state and beat Louisiana Monroe.

With today's loss, South Florida has now lost 5 of 6. Here are Skip's thoughts after the game.
