Navy's take on the Pro Combat uniform

Navy is the latest school to add the Nike Pro Combat uniform to it's jersey collection.

Top to bottom the uniforms are very classy. The underside of the collar features the words "Don't tread on me". Nice touch.

Take a look at the pictures below. They're definitely in better taste than some of the uniforms we've seen earlier in the year.

John L Smith to Weber State

John L. Smith officially returned to his alma mater as the new head coach at Weber State yesterday.

Smith has had head coaching stops at Idaho, Utah State, Louisville and Michigan State, and will take over a Wildcat program that finished the season at 5-6.

Athletic director Jerry Bovee is fully aware of the sideline personality that comes along with Smith, saying "I want to be surrounded by people that I have to pull back a little and not push forward, I built our staff that way, so that doesn't scare me."

John L. brings a career record of 132-86 as a head coach, and will surely add some excitement to the sidelines in Ogden, Utah. We'll keep you posted as he makes some decisions about his staff.

Petrino brothers reunited

Paul Petrino was in his car when he got the call from Bobby Petrino offering him the offensive coordinator position vacated by Garrick McGee's departure to UAB. Petrino's most recent stint as offensive coordinator at Arkansas was in 2009 before moving on to Illinois in the same role.

Paul was instrumental in the setting of offensive records at Illinois for points scored in a season (423), and points per game (32.5). The deciding factor for Paul was an opportunity to get back to an environment where "the head coach believes in everything that I believe in. Where the head coach starts everything with discipline where he believes everything I believe in offensively."

There's no better place to find continuity than working with your brother.

Given his familiarity with the system and terminology, this is one of the rare cases where we expect a newly hired coach to work the upcoming bowl game.

Video: Leach's plan: Win a game a week

Mike Leach was introduced today in Pullman and well, let's just say they love him already.

Leach's plan to win at Wazzu is very simple, win one game a week.  Seems easy enough.

He's back...

New CSU AD thinking big

New Colorado State athletic director Jack Graham has big aspirations for the football program at CSU...hundred million dollar aspirations to be more specific.

Graham has a vision of a $100 million on-campus stadium that will act as a "game changer" for the football program. The vision also includes a plan to make it more than just a football venue, Graham also said that he wants the new stadium to be a gathering place for students, where they enjoy a cup of coffee in a plaza overlooking the field on their way to class.

Graham believes that part of the reason CSU has lacked a football tradition is because of the location of its off-campus stadium. While Graham says that there is no timeline for the new stadium, it should still be a huge draw as the program looks for their next head coach.

"It's kind of a chicken and an egg issue. By having an on-campus stadium that kind of generates those kinds of traditions, it can enhance our ability to recruit and drive better results for our football program."

Clearly Graham has huge aspirations. Not entirely in line with where the program is currently though. Guys we have spoken with tell us that despite the current issues with the program, there is significant interest in the job. We'll keep you posted on who really get's involved.

Charley Molnar to UMass

We have confirmed that Notre Dame offensive coordinator Charley Molnar will be named the next head coach at UMass.

Molnar has been with Brian Kelly since their time together at Central Michigan, where Molnar tutored quarterback Dan LeFevour as he became the second player in NCAA history to rush for at least 1,000 yards and throw for over 3,000 yards.

Molnar's past coaching stops certainly helped make him the most appealing to UMass as they transition from the FCS to a member of the MAC. Molnar's past coaching stops include Eastern Michigan, Western Michigan, Kent State (all in the MAC), plus Central Michigan and Cincinnati.

The Minutemen are getting a proven offensive coach in Molnar and his background in the MAC will surely help the transition to FBS.

48 seconds of laughter

Sometimes we see things and think, that's probably not appropriate for our site.

This is probably one of those...but we simply can't help ourselves. Enjoy a laugh.
