High School:

Things that have already happened this morning

Oklahoma State and Tulsa kicked off at 12:16 this morning after over 3 hours of lightning delays.  The game ended at 3:35AM.  Oklahoma State went on top early and were never really tested.  Final 59-33.

And in other late finishers...

Stanford looked pretty good in the second half, pulling away from Arizona to win 37-10.

Utah opened up the offense in the second half (outscoring BYU 40-0), en route to a 54-10 win.

UNLV got their first win of the season at home over Hawaii 40-20.

Oh, and in other news, Syracuse and Pitt have been accepted into the ACC.  Musical chairs have begun; and we suspect won't end well for a few programs.

Huge win today for Vanderbilt (30-7 over Ole Miss) and James Franklin.  The program is riding high and we love how they are doing it.

We'll have more on this over the next few days; but...we just took a look at the schedule.

South Carolina is up next; in Columbia.  That's where Marcus Lattimore plays.  That's not good.

Did anyone else notice that Lattimore rushed for 246 today.  246.

Quoting the head ball coach, "We figured the best way to try to win the game was to just hand it to him and keep blocking."

Hard to argue.

Lattimore is going to win the Heisman.  Might be this year, might be next (maybe even the following...dude is a Sophomore); but he's going to win it.

Week 3 recap...the important stuff

It's a little after 11:30 est and there are still a number of games going on; but here's the run down of what you need to know in FBS football from week 3...

Oklahoma, Alabama and LSU have proved that they belong up top.  Boise State, Stanford, Wisky, Oklahoma State and South Carolina are all undefeated (at the moment) and have looked impressive.

No body is calling A&M, Nebraska, Arkansas or Va Tech asking to play them either.

Every high school athlete in the country wants to play for Will Muschamp.

South Florida and FIU are both 3-0.  Let that soak in...and both are playing very, very well.

Every win is important; but these seem worthy of particular mention:

Larry Porter and Memphis got their first win of the season (a 27-6 win over Austin Peay).

Kirk Ferentz saw his Iowa team put together 21 points in the 4th quarter for an important comeback win over Pitt at home 31-27.

James Franklin has Vandy 3-0 after winning 30-7 at home against Ole Miss (now 1-2).

Mark Richt and Georgia got their first win of the season 59-0 over Coastal Carolina.

Kevin Wilson and Indiana got their first win of the year 38-21 over South Carolina State.

Jerry Kill's guys at Minnesota picked up their first win 29-23 over Miami (OH).

Everett Withers has North Carolina 3-0 after they beat UVA 28-17.

Mark Hudspeth has Louisiana Lafayette 2-1 after winning 38-21 over Nicholls State.

Lane Kiffin has USC 3-0 after beating Syracuse 38-17...and yes, they kicked extra points after all 5 touchdowns.

Auburn lost to Clemson 38-24 snapping a 17 game winning streak...Clemson is 3-0.

Notre Dame picked up their first win of the season, 31-13 over Michigan State.

Down 34-7 late in the 3rd quarter, Houston scored 28 unanswered to stay undefeated in beating Louisiana Tech 35-34.

Al Golden got his first win at Miami with a 24-6 win over Ohio State.

Excuse me, SEC coaches...these two guys would like a word

Please watch the video below.  Chris Rainey and Will Muschamp have a message for you.

Rainey: You can't touch this.

Muschamp: This is only the beginning.

Okay, those were our words; but...

Rainey's line from this game: 233 total yards, 108 rushing, 104 receiving, 1TD, 1 blocked punt (FootballScoop addition...had he played defense, he also would have had 2 picks, 3 sacks, 4 TFLs and 1 additional TD)

Muschamp's actual quote...Tracy Wolfson asks about this, his first SEC win at The Swamp...Coach Muschamp, "First of many!"
