New uniforms at Tennessee Tech

Tennessee Tech will be wearing a fresh look for their match up with Oregon tomorrow.

The style of the uniforms are actually pretty smooth. The Golden Eagles that are used on the sleeves and down the side of the uniforms are defintely a nice, somewhat subtle, touch as the purple fades to white. And the helmets are said to be a throwback tribute to the 1972 conference championship team that rocked a similar style.

Tech and Oregon face off tomorrow at 3 and the game can be seen on the Pac 12 Network.

Stump Mitchell out at Southern?

This past off-season there was plenty of noise in the wind about Southern head coach Stump Mitchell returning to an NFL staff. Didn't happen; but there were a lot of questions in Baton Rouge.

Last night, Southern lost to Mississippi Valley State and is now 0-2. After the game, athletic director William Broussard said, "No decision [on making a change] at this time.

This morning Broussard issued a statement saying, "For the record, there was no meeting with coach Mitchell this morning to ask him to resign."

It's never a good thing with the AD has to even address these kinds of questions. Doesn't sound like a good situation. We'll keep you posted.

5PM Update> Southern has reassigned Stump within the athletic department. He is no longer the head coach.

Interesting high school uniform

This uniform is making it's rounds on Twitter and creating quite the buzz.

The interesting combination comes from Delray Beach Atlantic high school (FL), and is one of the....well... more "interesting" uniform combinations that we've come across here at The Scoop.

On the other hand, the helmet they plan to wear doesn't look too bad.

Quality video from Western Kentucky

Well done video here from Western Kentucky using highlights from their 35-0 loss to Alabama last week.

Although they got shut out, Western Kentucky did end an impressive streak for Alabama. Coming into the game, the Crimson Tide had forced at least one three and out in 77 consectutive games, dating all the way back to 2006.

That streak came to an end against the Hilltoppers.

Alabama led the country in three and outs in two of the past three seasons, winning a national title in each of those seasons.

This week, the focus for the Hilltoppers has shifted to Kentucky, as you can see in the video. The two teams will face off in Lexington tomorrow night at 7 on ESPNU.
