Video: Go inside a defensive play call with Miami's Mark D'Onofrio

Here's yet another excellent addition to the "Mind Games" series from Miami where they sit down with defensive coordinator Mark D'Onofrio to listen to what goes into a defensive play call.

D'Onofrio explains that once the previous play is over, they're collaborating with the coaches in the box to nail down the down and distance, what hash the ball is on, and what offense the personnel is in before deciding on their play call

That information is then relayed to their defensive players on the field along with the defensive call, which is echoed by the personnel on the field. The last piece for the Hurricanes is that all the players will tap their helmet to let the staff know that they've gotten the call.
