A lot of talented coaches on the 'sidelines'

With seven FBS head coaching jobs still available, everyone wants to know who will get the last few head coaching jobs. As we've seen over the past few weeks, head coaches can come from a lot of different places.

Sometimes head coaches come from up and coming programs such as Kent State's Darrell Hazell moving to Purdue, Northern Illinois' Dave Doeren departing for N.C. State, Willie Taggart jumping from Western Kentucky to South Florida and Gus Malzahn leaving Arkansas State to return to Auburn.

Sometimes its a hot coordinator that makes the jump such as Texas A&M offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury  to Texas Tech, Arkansas State nabbing Texas offensive coordinator Bryan Harsin, Idaho hiring Arkansas offensive coordinator Paul Petrino and Southern Miss grabbing Todd Monken from Oklahoma State.

Some programs look to the NFL for their rising star looking for his chance. Last year, Penn State struck gold with New England Patriots offensive coordinator Bill O'Brien and UTEP looks to do the same with Pittsburgh Steelers offensive line coach Sean Kugler.

But there is another talent pool out there that often gets overlooked. It's a group that has coached at the highest levels of college football, won hundreds of games, a trophy case full of conference championships and a national championship or two. But instead of pacing the literal sidelines, they're waiting on the figurative ones.

That talent pool is awfully deep right now. Hopefully these guys all get back into the game soon (even if not as head coaches). This is just a quick list of some guys who aren't currently on a coaching staff. Pretty amazing that these 25+ guys are available.
