Video: The stonecutter story gets applied at NC State

Jason Veltkamp and the strength staff at NC State have made sure that their guys have hit the ground running in the weight room since their arrival, and have had no shortage of motivational material to keep them going and focused.

This one centers around the story of the stonecutter and the 101st blow that finally split the boulder in two. The story, a favorite of many strength staffs, illustrates that it wasn't the final blow that split the rock in two, but was rather all the work up until that point.

As head strength coach Jason Veltkamp explains at the end of the clip, that story translates very well into every workout, set and rep of their offseason.

Great story for your guys to keep in mind.

Doug Samuels has been with FootballScoop since 2011. Samuels joined the FootballScoop staff after serving as a college scout as well as an assistant coach at the college level, where he was fortunate enough to have coached every offensive position by age 24. Samuels is lifelong Michigan State fan and has admittedly enjoyed the past few seasons when he has been able to look forward to quality football the entire fall, instead of anxiously awaiting college basketball after the first few weeks of the college football season.
