VIDEO: Mike Gundy and Oklahoma State take the next step
Oklahoma State's recent video opens by asking "Are you ready to take the next step?" The question is pointed at Oklahoma State's recruits, we are inside of three weeks from National Signing Day after all, but it could also be posed to the program itself.
After spending the better part of a decade bouncing between four and nine wins, Gundy's team broke through in 2010 with an 11-2 season and a top 10 final ranking in the Coaches Poll. A year later, Oklahoma State won its first Big 12 title, beat Stanford in the Fiesta Bowl and finished the season ranked No. 3 nationally. The Cowboys naturally took a step back to 8-5 this season but are seen by many prognosticators as the favorite to win the Big 12 again in 2013.
As he not coincidentally sits in front of the jerseys of former Cowboys in the NFL, Gundy lists off the litany of aspects he has to tell about his program, "Our players have won 41 games over the past four years (this was shot before the 2012 season).... There's no questions we have terrific facilities here at Oklahoma State. Our strength and conditioning facility is almost 20,000 square feet...We've had five first-rounders in the last four years here at Oklahoma State....We wear a different uniform for each game. We made a decision to be different than the other schools that are in this part of the country." A lot to sell, indeed.
Not to mention, the Oklahoma State video people put together a sharp video to go around Gundy's interview. Well done.
