The Breakdown - Wednesday, August 7

If you missed anything that happened in the college football world today, don't worry. We're here to cut your Wednesday down into five minutes with today's edition of the Breakdown.

Wednesday August 7, 2013 presented by:  {module 180}

The Scoop: Duke senior deputy director of athletics Stan Wilcox is the new athletics director at Florida State.

HS Scoop: One week before the start of practice, one Oklahoma high school is looking for a new head coach.

Video from Utah: This Utah pump up video should excite the fan base.

Oklahoma State offensive line coach Joe Wickline on being a productive assistant coach: “I think that’s everybody’s job, whether I’m coaching the kickers or the linebackers or the deep snappers. To me, as a football coach, you’re responsible for three things. No. 1 is to be loyal, to work hard and to do your very best at what you’re doing. The other thing is obviously to recruit the best players that fit your program. You’ve got to go out and recruit and fit those needs. The third thing is if you’re assigned to a position, any position — whether it be coaching or off the field, any leader — you’ve got to take pride in yourself (and say), ‘Look, you don’t have to worry about my group. You may have to worry about somebody’s else’s group.’ That’s more of a personal pride. So I think everybody aims for that. That really should be your goal, that he may worry about a lot of people, but my group’s not one of them. So I try to keep that intact.”

From a man who is an expert in both, our guy KegsnEggs has produced a Big Ten preview comparing each B1G team to a type of alcoholic beverage.

Lane Kiffin explains why he's employing two offensive line coaches on his staff. What do the offensive line coaches in our audience think about this?

New Helmets for an NAIA program: The Bethany College Swedes unveiled some new Thor-style helmets for the season.

 Sage Rosenfels has written a diary about his memories of one of the more epic NFL playoff games in recent memory, the 2010 NFC Championship. Minnesota's back-up quarterback at the time, Rosenfels provides a look at that day and Brett Favre's performance that no one else has.

Oakland University, launched in 1957, will play the first football season in school history beginning Sept. 21. And if you've got a football team that means you have to have uniforms

Wickline (again) on the essence of playing offensive line: “It’s not that hard … I mean, gee-whiz, just get in front of somebody.”

Kliff Kingsbury has certainly not lacked for coverage on the beginning stages of his head coaching era at Texas Tech, but this short documentary from Grantland is as good as anything we've seen.

Coach worth following on Twitter: Wake Forest head coach Jim Grobe. Because he likes to troll his own players. Repeatedly.
