Bob Davie has already matched New Mexico's win total from past 3 years

Six games into his tenure as the New Mexico head coach, Bob Davie has already matched their win total from the past 3 seasons.

In the three years under former head coach Mike Locksley, stretching from 2009-2011, the Lobo's won 3 games.

Davie has already collected three wins in six games. The Lobos wins have come against Southern University (FCS), Texas State, and in state rival New Mexico State, a team that the Lobos hadn't beat since 2008. The Lobo's also had a chance to win it against Boise State last week before eventually falling 32-29.

This past weekend against Texas State, the The Lobos (3-3, 1-1) carried the ball 59 times for 361 yards (200 in the first half), and only aired it out three times (1 for 3 for 9 yards) in their 35-14 win. Texas State beat Houston 30-13 to open up the season.

Coach Davie and his staff are doing a great job over in Albuquerque. Take a look at their highlights from the Texas State game below.

{module 174} Doug Samuels has been with FootballScoop since 2011. Samuels joined the FootballScoop staff after serving as a college scout as well as an assistant coach at the college level, where he was fortunate enough to have coached every offensive position by age 24. Samuels is lifelong Michigan State fan and has admittedly enjoyed the past few seasons when he has been able to look forward to quality football the entire fall, instead of anxiously awaiting college basketball after the first few weeks of the college football season.
