Louisville AD on Charlie Strong: "We will match anybody's offer"

Yesterday, Charlie Strong told the Jim Rome Show that he has no intention of leaving for the Arkansas job, noting that he's "just not cut like that."

Later Louisville athletic director Tom Jurich stated that he's not worried about the rumors, and is prepared to match the offer of any college program. He made it clear that he wants to keep Coach Strong a Cardinal.

"I will match anybody's salary. I will match anybody in college." Jurich said.

"I will be supportive of whoever's here. Do they want to be here? When someone is being talked about, that's a compliment to our program. I've had it where you have coaches, and they're not talked about."

If it comes down to money, any other school that wants Strong is going to have to pony up some coin. A year ago, Strong signed a seven year contract extension that bumped his salary up from $1.6 million to about $2.3 million per year.

Samuels joined the FootballScoop staff after serving as a college scout as well as an assistant coach at the college level, where he was fortunate enough to have coached every offensive position by age 24. Samuels is lifelong Michigan State fan and has admittedly enjoyed the past few seasons when he has been able to look forward to quality football the entire fall, instead of anxiously awaiting college basketball after the first few weeks of the college football season.
