Video: Tennessee participates in touching 'Beads of Courage' program

With Thanksgiving in the rear view mirror, millions of people battling out there for holiday deals as we speak, and Christmas just around the corner, it's an important time of year to take a step back and put everything in perspective.

This video out of Tennessee, highlighting the touching idea of the Beads of Courage program, is a great reminder to keep things in perspective, which is what the Vol For Life program (a program at Tennessee centered around life skills and character development for student athletes) is all about.

The "carry a bead" portion of the video is what really inspired me. Players will wear a bead during a game, or other team event, and then afterward the player will present the bead to a child battling life threatening health issues with a short note of encouragement. A very simple, yet powerful idea that has inspired countless sick children.

It's a really interesting program, and something that Vol athletes in multiple sports have really embraced. Learn more about it below.
