Jim Harbaugh: I don't take vacations. I'm a jackhammer.
Fourth-year Stanford head coach Jim Harbaugh routinely provides humorous quotes.
One of the most recent from Harbaugh…”I don’t take vacations. I don’t get sick. I don’t observe major holidays. I’m a jackhammer.”
You’ve got to love that.
What Harbaugh is loving is the depth on his team. After the first scrimmage in Palo Alto, Harbaugh said, "There's a lot of competition for a lot of spots. Competition at tight end, running back, in the offensive line and wide receiver. Across the board I'm feeling good about the way the guys are playing."
Stanford is looking to improve a pass defense that ranked near the bottom of the country in 2009.
There is really for optimism, however. New defensive backs coach Derek Mason says, "I'm not a soothsayer, but I will tell you that this group is as competitive, as driven and as motivated as any group I've ever coached."
Stanford hosts Sacramento State to start the season. One week later, Harbaugh will take his team to Los Angeles to take on UCLA.
