Rich Rod may host student-body tryout for kicker

Rich Rodriquez is concerned about his kicking situation heading into August camp.  The third year Michigan head coach acknowledged the possibility of a student-body tryout.

Don’t laugh. A student-body tryout resulted well for Boston College and Texas Tech.

At punter, the Wolverines will rely on a true freshman.  The answer at place-kicker has yet to be solved.  Two red-shirt freshman, one of which is a walk-on, will get the opportunity to win the job.  When school begins, other candidates will join the team.

Rodriguez admitted, “It really depends on what happens in August and the returning kickers, the walk-ons we have coming back when school starts in August. If we’re still uncomfortable then, then we’ll have another tryout.”
