Virginia gets a big win last night

Virginia and Mike London got a big program win last night with their 28-21 win over Miami. The win marked the first ACC road win for Virginia since 2009, and only their second win all time in the state of Florida.

The first quarter this season has really set the tone for the Virginia defense. Last night marked the 7th time in eight games that the Cavaliers have held their opponent scoreless in the first quarter.  Southern Mississippi was the only opponent to score in the first quarter so far this season.

As we noted yesterday, a win by Al Golden would have brought the two friends to 32 wins each.  London's win brought his win total to 33, while Golden stayed at 31 wins as a head coach. The loss marks the fourth time this season that the Hurricanes have lost by 8 points or less.

UVA is now 5-3, 2-2 in the ACC on the season.
