Behold the ugliest trophy in all of sports

Concordia University and St. Olaf College are longtime rivals in the Division III Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. On Saturday, the Cobbers and the Oles open MIAC play for a commemorative trophy that was added to the rivalry 40 years ago as a way to welcome St. Olaf back to the conference after a 20-year absence.

It's called the Troll and it's the ugliest trophy in sports.

Legend has it, the Norwegian mythological creature was chosen as an homage to the schools' shared Scandanavian roots.

“That’s the ugliest traveling trophy in the country I tell people,” Concordia head coach Terry Horan says. “But it’s a good thing that it’s here. We take a lot of pride in it.”
