Watch Bill Parcells' Hall of Fame speech

Regardless of which way his abrasive personality rubs you, regardless of your feelings of the teams he coached, every coach in America can learn something from Bill Parcells. He entered coaching nearly 50 years ago and along the way to Canton coached at Hastings College, Wichita State, Army, Florida State, Vanderbilt and Texas Tech, served as Air Force's head coach, spent a year as the New York Giants' defensive coordinator, coached linebackers again for the New England Patriots, returned to New York as defensive coordinator/linebackers coach before being promoted to head coach, then led the Patriots, New York Jets and Dallas Cowboys as head coach, then retured to the Jets as general manager before his last stop as executive vice president of football operations of the Miami Dolphins.

Along the way he influenced dozens of coaches, including guys like Bill Belichick and Sean Payton.

Now that's a career.
