Top 25 list of college football accounts ranked by Twitter followers

Thanks to a little research by the good people that run the SEC Logo Twitter account we now have a complete top 25 list of Twitter followers for the top college football accounts across the country. As far as we could tell, the counts were taken from each program's official Twitter account.

The SEC has nine teams represented on the list, including six teams (LSU, Alabama, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Auburn, Florida) in the top seven. Seven Big Ten teams made the list, including accounts from Michigan and Michigan State cracking the top ten, with Michigan in the #1 overall slot by a wide margin. Other Big Ten teams included in the list include Wisconsin, Ohio State, Penn State, Iowa, and Purdue.

Other conferences being represented include the Big 12 (4 - Texas, Oklahoma State, Oklahoma, Baylor) the ACC (4 - Florida State, Virginia Tech, North Carlolina, NC State) and of course one Independent school (Notre Dame).

According to our research, Tennessee has the most active Twitter account by far in the top 25 (over 18,000 tweets),with Wisconsin in a distant second with just over 9,800 tweets. The least active accounts on the list belong to Ohio State (1,635 tweets) and Georgia (1,735 tweets).
