Kienus Boulware - Winston Salem

The Winston Salem defense, led by defensive coordinator Kienus Boulware, has been one of the toughest in the country this season and are a big reason the Rams are currently 12-0. Boulware’s defense is only allowing 73 yards per game on the ground (#2) and a measly 2.28 yards per carry for opponents. The Rams also lead the charge in scoring defense in the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association and are 5th nationally allowing just over 16 points per game.

Hunter Hughes - Colorado State - Pueblo

Colorado State – Pueblo has been one of the most amazing stories in all of college football. In only their fourth year of existence, the ThunderWolves finished their season at 11-1 and much of that can be attributed to their impressive defense and coordinator Hunter Hughes. The ThunderWolves held the top ranking scoring defense, allowing only 10.33 points per game, and a stiff run defense gave up only 2.71 yards per carry, and 90 yards per game on the season. The secondary has dominated to the tune of 26 interceptions and has only allowed 4 passing touchdowns all season.

Key stats

Midwestern State has led the nation in total offense (532 yards per game), and is putting almost 49 points on the board each week (#2).  Perhaps their most impressive feat is having two rushers in the top 50 in the country with Kendrick Jackson (#35 – 92ypg) and Brandon Kelsey (#48 – 88ypg).
