2011 FCS Coordinator of the Year

The FootballScoop Coaches of the Year awards presented by SpeedTracs are the only set of awards that recognize the most outstanding position coaches in college football.  Finalists were selected based off of nominations by coaches, athletic directors, and athletic department personnel. A panel of coaches, including previous recipients, will determine the the 2011 winner. Votes tallied on this page are considered; however our panel will make the final decision.  Voting for this award ends on Monday December 12th.

Previous winners of the FCS Coordinator of the Year award are Heishma Northern (Prairie View A&M, 2008), Bob Shoop (William & Mary, 2009) and Nick Rapone (Delaware, 2010).

Dave Cecchini - Lehigh

 

Offensive coordinator Dave Cecchini has led one of the most potent air attacks in the nation this year with Lehigh. The Mountain Hawks have improved in every major statistical category on offense and have been able to score 30 or more points in nine of their eleven games this season (averaging almost 35 points per game). Quarterback Chris Lum has been very efficient ranking #8 in pass efficiency (154.26), and also completes 67% of his passes.  Lehigh also boasts of the top 11 receivers in receptions per game with Ryan Spadola and Jake Drwal pulling in 7 and 8 catches per game, respectively.

Brent Davis - Georgia Southern

 

Georgia Southern offensive coordinator Brent Davis made a big splash against the top offense in the country when Georgia Southern was able to rush for 302 yards on Alabama, including one breakout touchdown run of 82 yards. The Eagles have had success on the ground all season posting the #2 rush offense in the nation (319 yards), and #7 scoring offense (almost 36 points per game). Davis’ rushing attack has also accounted for an impressive 38 touchdowns as well.

Scott Stoker - Sam Houston State

 

Scott Stoker has gotten the team to buy into the defensive philosophy as the Bearkats have improved in almost every category since 2010. That improvement has been a major reason the team has improved from 6-5 last season to 11-0 so far this season. Sam Houston State’s top ranked scoring defense has held all but one opponent (FBS program New Mexico) to under 17 points. The defense has been just as impressive on the ground and through the air ranking #2 in both rushing defense (59 ypg) and pass efficiency defense (92.68).
