Doyle

Ask current and former Stanford coaches about Doyle and you get a more succinct answer. "Matt is a model representative of Stanford University." one former Stanford coach offered.

In the time we spent on the Stanford campus last spring, it was clear Doyle has built relationships with people not just inside the football offices, but across the university. In every building we stepped in across the campus, seemingly every Stanford official had a good word to put in about the man who keeps Stanford football humming.

Current head coach David Shaw said, "Matt keeps Stanford football organized. From budgets and schedules to spring practices and summer jobs. From game one through our third BCS bowl game in a row, Matt keeps our coaches and players informed, in line and in position to be successful."

In nominating Doyle, several other football operations staff noted that Doyle played a significant effort in facilitating the housing project for Stanford's coaches over the past few years, is charged annually with ensuring most of the players have appropriate housing during the summer term and has masterfully handled multiple coaching staff transitions. One person added, "Doyle has dealt with more in his last 10 years than most of us will ever have to face in our careers and he does it all with class."

The FootballScoop Coaches of the Year awards presented by ProGrass are the only set of awards that recognize the most outstanding position coaches in college football. The finalists (Doyle, Jeff Jamrog - Nebraska and Nolan Jones - Kentucky) were selected based off of nominations by coaches, athletic directors, and athletic department personnel. The prior winners selected this year's winner.

Doyle will receive his award and be recognized at an event at the AFCA Convention in January.

Previous winners of the Director of Football Operations of the Year award are Tom Deahn (Temple, 2009), Mike Kerin (West Virginia, 2010) and Mike Sinquefield (TCU, 2011).
