Charleston Southern: is accepting applications for Strength & Conditioning Internships.  Internships are available at the beginning of every semester; summer, fall, and spring.  This is an up-paid internship working with Division 1 (FCS Football) athletics program.  Candidates will get the opportunity to get hands on experience with In-Season and Off-Season training programs for a variety of sport programs.  Also there is a program curriculum required to be completed during the internship.  Responsibilities will include: Assisting with the implementation of CSU Strength & Conditioning Program, Teaching proper lifting technique to student athletes, Daily maintenance of the weight room, and any other tasks assigned by Head Strength & Coach.  Charleston Southern University is a Christian University in Charleston South Carolina with about 3000 students that compete in the Big South Conference.  Candidate must comply with all University polices and procedures during the internship. Penn: Our sources tell us University of Pittsburgh assistant strength coach Stephen Brindle accepted an assistant strength position at the University of Penn.

Morgan State University: Accepting applications for Fall 2010 Intern.  Position will run from August 23, 2010 to December 15, 2010.  Responsibilities will include 1.) Assist with development and implementation of sport specific strength & conditioning programs.  2.) Office and organizational duties.  3.) Maintenance of equipment and training facilities.   4.) Other duties as assigned by strength & conditioning staff.  Required qualifications: currently pursuing bachelors/masters in exercise science or a related field, certified in CPR/First Aid, and strong desire to become a College Strength & Conditioning Coach. Preferred qualifications: proficient in Microsoft word and excel, currently pursuing NSCA, USAW, or CSCCa certification(s) Compensation: This is a volunteer position.  No stipend or housing is offered. Washington State improves strength facility

University of Virginia: Strength & Conditioning Department is accepting applications for the position of Football Strength and Conditioning Volunteer Intern for the Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters. The successful candidate will be required to schedule and maintain a minimum of 20 hours per week with the strength & conditioning department. The program is designed for undergraduate students and the post bachelor professional looking for experience. Daily responsibilities will include: 1. Assisting with supervision and execution of strength training programs. 2. Teaching student athletes proper technique and equipment use. 3. Attending to the daily maintenance of the training facilities.  4. Participation in weekly projects and professional development throughout the internship program. Compensation: Division 1 experience with earned recommendation for future career opportunities. No monetary compensation will be provided. Qualifications: Must have a strong work-ethic and have a desire to become a strength and conditioning professional. TCU: Fall semester August - December 2010. Internship progam. Internships through the TCU Strength & Conditioning department are available to those who would like to pursue a career in Strength & Conditioning. The TCU Strength & Conditioning Department is a teaching department that offers our interns hands-on experience as well as prepares them to become qualified Strength & Conditioning professionals. Interns will have the opportunity to work with all sixteen (16) of TCU’s Men’s and Women’s sports totaling more than 400 student-athletes. We believe in providing a comprehensive education as the department is headed by Don Sommer, a Master Strength and Conditioning Coach. COMPENSATION: This is a non-paid position but offers the opportunity of advancement in the field of strength and conditioning as well as the fulfillment of credit hours towards a degree program. Dartmouth College: seeks qualified students for a position of strength and conditioning intern for Fall 2010. Under the supervision of the head strength and conditioning coach, the intern will assist in providing instruction and supervision of training sessions, implement and possibly design strength and conditioning programs, provide daily maintenance of equipment and facility, and participate in a continuing education program facilitated by the strength and conditioning coaches. The individual must demonstrate an ability to teach and critique exercise technique (such as Olympic lifting). He/She must demonstrate leadership, organizational and communication skills. FIU: Strength and Conditioning Intern.  F.I.U.  has internship openings for the 2010 Fall in their strength and conditioning department.  F.I.U. competes in the Sun Belt Conference and is located in Miami, FL.  This is an unpaid internship.  All interns will be given the opportunity to work hands on with Division 1 athletes on a daily basis.  You will have an opportunity to develop your knowledge of speed development, olympic lifting techniques, nutritional prescription, and rehab progressions.  Head Strength Coach Roderick Moore is an official mentor for the CSCCa for those pursuing a future certification.   Interns must be available to work 15-30 hours a week within the department.  Highly motivated and successful interns will be considered for a Graduate Assistant position for the future.  Please send a cover letter, resume, and three references to Ryan Horton, Internship and G.A.
